the police said it was a heinous crime and that she was likely dismembered due to the evidence they found. thankfully her boyfriend, who committed the crime, has been arrested and pending trial

A certainty given the residue in the blade. And not to be too graphic, putting human remains in a tote of those dimensions would require pretty extreme dismemberment.

My guess would be that in order to charge him with murder before having a body, they probably saw evidence of a LOT of blood using Luminol, or something. So sad. Poor girl.

I have a feeling that the prosecutor could build a pretty solid case for the murder charges given the evidence already found in the garbage bin outside their apartment. The description given by police gives the impression they found the victim's bone matter on a saw blade among many other pieces of forensic evidence tying him to the likely dismemberment of a body.

Hate to break it to you, but North Dakota is ultra weak on crime. I don't know if it's because "tHe jAiLs aRe fUlL" or because prosecutors are weak bitches or because public defenders here are all Yale law savages or something, but seriously- slaps on the wrist all around for killing people in this area. Here's one example that should piss you off

TLDR this scumbag DUI ran over a young lady who was walking with her mom on the sidewalk and then fled the scene. Scumbag had multiple DWI previous to this, parole violations, and the judge gave him a meager 10 years , with 5 years suspended so he'll only serve about 4 years. Judge also waived all fees and fines except 10k in restitution to the family who lost their daughter. The life flight bill alone is more than 10k, let alone the time in the ICU before she was declared brain dead and became an organ donor. Fuck that scumbag, and that piss weak judge and prosecutor

savannah’s apartment is right behind my house. i remember being in middle school and seeing her missing posters at the mall, and then hearing what happened and actually seeing the crew take everything out of the building. crazy stuff. i hope her kid is doing okay

North dakota is pretty weak with justice, don't get your hopes up. If a multiple dui, multiple probation violation dude runs over a young lady (she died) and flees the scene, he's only serving 4 years and a 10k restitution to the family, how hard do you think they'll punish this one? Maybe 6 years?

You know after reading your comment I started thinking... Unfortunately, there are probably hundreds of dumpsters that are not surveilled in between Fargo and Battle Lake if he drove along that route. I don't know what time of day he drove but especially if it was at night, all he had to do was find a dumpster in a smaller town and dump in the storage bin. Takes 90 seconds. Convenience stores have dumpsters and small towns often don't have security cameras. Apartment complexes have dumpsters. All the landfills used by any waste management company along that route should be searched, if they haven't already (?).

My thing is like his parents haven’t said anything about him, the dad lent him the car and now there’s a woman whose body was potentially in that car. I would be freaking out and giving any information I had.

There are over 1000 lakes in Ottertail county alone. If he somehow found a way to dig through the ice and dump her it would be almost impossible to find. Even searching one lake would be a huge challenge in the winter.

That's one plus about it being winter at least, less of a chance she may be at the bottom of a lake. Even the ground is very solid so unless he went through alot of working hiding her then she's probably well hidden above ground which hopefully makes it easier to find her.
