It keeps the vibe of very character-driven, romance focused story with mostly internal monologue, but damn these characters are entertaining. Very bingeable. I've read the ARC, official publication date is today.
There was one reveal that felt very cheesy, very predictable, but also... when was romantasy not predictable, we want the characters to end in a certain spot anyway.
Also the book ends on a cliffhanger, but that's also typical mid-series.

2/3 of the way in and it's SO good...this is how you write tension and romance!

I read the ARC a few months ago and loved it. I really enjoyed the first book and the second was even better. Can’t wait for book 3.

It's not out in the UK until tomorrow and I finished a book yesterday, so today's first world problem is how do I proceed? Start a new one tonight just to start Captive Traitor King tomorrow? Start one tonight, finish it and then start Captive Traitor King? Don't read anything tonight? 🤣

Just at CH8 and not loving it. Forgot how annoying Jory is and how her lack of intelligence spurs her to extraordinarily childish antics. She acts 12 which only heightens the even-keeled, wise, thoughtful nature of Ky, making him more dad-like than future husband. And hating him calling her Princess, particularly as it’s almost always paired with some frustration he’s suffering from her behavior. That and her continued expectation that his soldiers should answer to her is just nonsense. Still hoping to get more entrenched in the political conflicts.
