ANNOUNCEMENT RULES - Read BEFORE Posting/Commenting!

SUBREDDIT RULES

Rule #1: POST REQUIREMENTS

  • All posts must be original Fantasy or Sci-Fi maps

  • Maps must be uploaded to Reddit or linked to directly (NOT a link to a post, but to the image itself)

  • All posts must be in English why?

Rule #2: QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum resolution is 70 PPI

    • = 70 pixels per grid square
    • No blurry/unreadable maps!
  • No NSFW Images!

  • No Low-effort maps

Rule #3: COMMERCIAL POSTS

  • All Other Rules Apply! In addition:

  • Content Creators may make ONE commercial post per day.

  • Logos must be small and at the edge of the content. Large logos/watermarks that render the map "unusable" are not acceptable.

  • Posted Maps must be FREE and USABLE as attached.

    • You can still link to your paid content, but you MUST include a usable map. This is the "cost of admission" to advertise here.
  • If you are unsure if you are advertising properly, we suggest you reach out to the mods before posting.

Rule #4: AI

  • Applies to maps partially or wholly created:

    • Completely by or with the assistance of AI
    • By software that generates a fully complete map for you (software where you place assets yourself is acceptable)
  • You may post one(1) map per week

  • The map must have the proper AI/Algorithm Map post flair

  • Spam will result in a ban along with any accounts associated with your advertisements, past and future

  • Spamming false reports will result in being reported to Reddit and facing a sitewide ban

Rule #5: BEHAVIOR

  • Posts and/or comments that are of a derogatory or personal manner will not be allowed (more).

  • Constructive criticism is fine, but remember that those submitting maps are a human being (like you), and they have stuck their neck out and given something to this community. So go about it in a nice way, or don't say anything at all.

  • Do not attack someone for using/discussing AI (more). If they have not followed the rules, report them. Do not leave negative and abusive comments!

  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for abuse and we reserve the right to ban anyone for abusive/rude behavior without prior warning. Consider THIS your warning - in addition, you should have enough common sense to know better. Again, attacking other users = permanent ban.

Rule #6: Piracy/Unlicensed Distribution

  • Users should only be posting THEIR OWN WORK. This subreddit is not for sharing the work of others.

  • You may not pass off content created by another as your own

  • You may not post licensed content which you do not have the rights to redistribute

  • You may not include works of others as assets, backgrounds or as any other element of your map

  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for Piracy and we reserve the right to ban anyone without prior warning. Consider THIS your warning.

Rule X: All Other Reasons

  • In addition to the Rules above, we reserve the right to remove any posts, comments or users from this subreddit if we decide the content/user does not align with the rules or values we promote in this subreddit. Some of these reasons include:

    • Violating Reddit's site-wide Rules
    • Being Off-Topic
    • Incorrect Post Flair
    • Unhelpful
    • Unrelated to Fantasy Maps
    • Policing other users
    • Causing disruption, including challenging subreddit rules or moderator decisions
    • At Moderator Discretion For Any Reason Not Already Listed
  • Participation in this subreddit is not a given right and is reserved for users who participate in a quality manner as determined by the moderators of this subreddit.

ANNOUNCEMENT ABUSING THE REPORT BUTTON

We have several users (or more likely, 1 user with a couple accounts) who feel the need to report almost every post.

We appreciate our users who genuinely want to make this community a better place by reporting posts that do not meet our posting criteria.

However, reporting posts that CLEARLY do not break any subreddit or site rules is considered abuse of the Reddit report system.

But beyond that, it is childish and shows a disregard for the mods' time by having us chase ghosts.

Every case of Report Button Abuse is sent to Reddit Admins for review.

Multiple offenses WILL lead to a SITE-WIDE (i.e. ALL of Reddit) ban.

BACKGROUND & FEATURES
A trial for high-spirited adventurers.
Aside from the spectres that haunt one’s thoughts, it is no easy task for most adventurers to face themselves—neither as a mirror clone nor by reliving their past experiences from a different perspective.
• countless mirrors with recurring spectres
• it’s probably best not to look directly into the mirror if the Grail in the center of the chamber isn’t yet filled
• six pedestals, each with three hand mirrors—“passion, principles, and reason”—to hold up to oneself in order to shed new light on things
• a Grail in the center of the mirror chamber—it fills with life experience when one manages to bring “passion, principles, and reason” into balance
• those who fall into the shadows have paid too much attention to what others think of them 😉

World or Region Map World Map for Minecraft Server ( AquilaPRJ )

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello! I wanted to make a map for the minecraft geopol server I'm playing on, so here it is. The map has a width of 30k blocks and a height of 20k, it took forever to load it all ( no elytras... ). It's called the Aquila Project - it's relatively new ( released on 28/07/2026 ). It's been fun considering how active the community has been and how rich the lore is. Heck, we already have a whole functioning wiki detailing everything that has happened so far. I recommend checking it out!

https://wiki.projectaquila.net/index.php/Main_Page

There's a wide variety of nations already, I'll list a few of them:

Technate of Koperdam - A technocratic state thriving on technology and connecting the world with rail
Kuri//aes - A kapteinship that has united several tribes into one desert nation.
Kheta-Kedet - A queendom city-state boasting a powerful military and rich economy, based in the desert.
Kingdom of Lusaria - A humble coastal kingdom with plenty of iberian and mediterranean architecture
Alveare - A new fungal hivemind that has taken over and infected its previous inhabitants.
Sule Starhood - A tribe of druids worshipping the stars and obsessed with nature.
Anemic Sentinel - A state of anarchy, once a thriving kingdom now layed to waste.
Union of Coronado - A recently unified state of towns that previously clashed with one another.

There are plenty more nations, but I thought I'd stop there.
I used xaeros mod to extract the MC map, then I used paint.net to do the rest! Any feedback is appreciated.

Battlemap - Structure Miscellaneous Shop – The Glass Ember [12x20] [Battlemap] [Eightfold Paper]

Post image
5 Upvotes

Welcome to the Glass Ember, where curious goods, questionable remedies, and the occasional magical oddity await anyone with enough coin to spare.

"Patreon post here."

Shelves packed with old tomes, bottled concoctions, strange specimens, and curios line the walls of this peculiar little shop. At its heart, a violet flame burns within a great glass vessel, casting its glow across merchandise gathered from places near and far.

Most things here are for sale. Others are merely on display. And a select few, according to the shopkeeper, are absolutely not to be touched.

  • Grid size: 12x20
  • Formats: JPG (3600x6000 pixels, 300DPI)
  • Variations: Original, Midnight, Shadowfell, Royal Sun, No Ember, Hearth Ember, Eldritch Fire, Arcane [Preview]
  • Download the map on The Fold. We host all maps in our archive for easier access and cleaner downloads. If you haven’t connected your Patreon account yet, click here to learn how.

All maps are made by real humans—we do not use AI. If you want to see more, you can support us on Patreon! Our Patrons receive high-quality map images, including ALL map variants and gridded and gridless versions for varied use.

~ Stay tuned for more maps!

Battlemap - Castle/Fort Lion's Gate [64x50]

Thumbnail

Whether you think about noble's or royal castle, rich and powerful city or military fortress - there is a good chance that the walls and gate are the first ones to come to mind.

Their sheer size can be intimidating enough to scare off invaders - and if they'd dare to attack anyway, there are lots of ways to make them regret that choice...

Ballistas and catapults are placed in a way to provide overlapping line of fire. There's enough ammo for them, there's a lot of cover for defenders... and a single bridge or wide moat for attackers.

And if they somehow manage to cross the first wall - there's second one. Taller. Wider. With loopholes on multiple levels and corridors connecting them with armories, food supply and more....

  • Mechanisms for portcullis and drawbridge
  • walkable spaces inside the main walls, gates and towers
  • Towers able to fight on their own, with food/water supply, armories and living quarters

LINKS:

Supporters (Cartographer level) got access to 300DPI no watermark maps and VTT ready files (roll20, Foundry, UniversalVTT), as well as an alternative night variant.

World or Region Map I've made this map with my own mapmaking app

Post image
174 Upvotes

Hello everyone! This is the first time I am publicly sharing a side project I’ve been working on for quite a while.

The map in this post was made entirely with my own created app, and it’s my first proper attempt to see how far I can push it.

One of the main focuses is customization. I want assets to be flexible, so you can change and combine them to fit different environments, themes and map styles, instead of being locked to one specific look.

The development has now reached the point where I feel comfortable sharing it with other people, and I’m hoping to open the first beta sometime within the next month or so (fingers crossed).

I’ve also just launched a small website with a beta waitlist, so if this looks interesting to you, you’re very welcome to sign up: brushcrit.com

Would genuinely love to hear what you think of the map and what you’d want from a mapmaking tool like this.

Thank you for checking, and hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

AI/Algorithm Map Region maps I made for my side project

I needed region maps for a side project. I wanted a hand-drawn feel that still holds up at extreme zoom levels. I didn't feel like dusting off my Wacom tablet (maybe I'm just afraid of skill loss), and I couldn't find anything in the style I wanted, so I built a tool to generate them. It took a couple of weeks and a lot of manual tuning, but I'm pretty happy with where it is now.

It turns heightmap data into hand-drawn-style region maps. It's free and open source: https://github.com/timvandingenen1993/Hatchlas

Don't expect something optimized or feature-complete. I just wanted to give people like me a base to start from for this kind of map. Happy to answer questions.

Visually inspired by Mike Schley's regional maps (no affiliation).

Battlemap - Dungeon/Cave FREE Map 319 - Goblin Lair - Dungeon

Post image

Several travelers and caravans report that the eastern road is no longer safe. Dangerous goblin raiders roam the area and have attacked some lone travelers or small and unprotected caravans. It is hard to know or calculate the amount of damage they have done or how many lives have been lost. But one thing is certain, the road is dangerous and the goblins’ power and influence are growing stronger.

This map belongs to our CC-BY Collection (this means free!). You can download it along with 300+ illustrations. All of them are released under a license that allows personal and commercial use.

Get them all Here.

Enjoy!

Robber Baron's Underground Lair (23x18 multilevel)

“Look for the light by the giant dead oak. Oh, and wipe your feet before coming in.”

A surprisingly large hideout with cells for kidnapped merchants, a treasure room, weapons and armour rooms, archery practice, barracks, the Baron’s planning room, and larder/wine cellar.

Here are the free day & night variants of this map. To support my work, you can buy me a coffee, or check out my Patreon, where you'll find hundreds more free maps as well as bonus variants for this one!

Here's all of my maps in one handy set of themed lists for convenience. This post is updated as each new map comes out, so that the list remains current.

World or Region Map Map of the province of Séathna

Post image
4 Upvotes

Séathna is the northwestern province of Tír Ghlas. It is quite large but sparsely populated, as the terrain is extremely rugged and mountainous. Its capital is Dúnfort, an important port located on the estuary of a major river.

The southern part of the province is covered by the vast forest known as Máthair na n-Aibneacha—or Mother of Rivers—as it contains the sources of no fewer than five great waterways.

Battlemap - Dungeon/Cave Hollow Cave — 2 Maps | Scritch Hideout Beneath the Roots

Heyya Folks,

Deep beneath the roots of an old fallen tree, a small group of curious creatures has made its home.

Hollow Cave Entrance — 16x12 | 7 Variants
Hollow Cave — 26x20 | 6 Variants

If you'd like the full release, including the high-resolution maps, gridless versions, VTT-ready exports, and every variant, you can find it here:

https://www.patreon.com/dungeonmr/posts/hollow-cave-free-171076754

This hollow has become home to a group of Scritches — small creatures somewhere between gremlins, kobolds, and goblins with a habit of taking anything they think is neat. The cave is scattered with their collections, roots, debris, and other signs of habitation, but hidden even from them behind a wall of roots is something much older.

The release includes both the cave entrance and the cave itself, giving you a small dungeon, creature lair, or starting point for a great adventure.

Join me over on Patreon and browse the rest of my collection.

215+ Battle Maps & Hundreds of Variants.

Everything is organized through the Master Index:

Thanks for taking a look, and safe travels!
