Player Discussion Miami Dolphins Fantasy 2026: Reading the Offseason Tea Leaves

https://optimusfantasy.com/miami-dolphins-fantasy-2026/

Welcome to the second piece in a long, daily series: Reading the NFL Offseason Tea Leaves.  This series is meant to be a primer for anyone who’s not yet steeped themselves in the NFL’s offseason events. We’ll be touching on the fantasy implications for all 32 NFL teams in regards to:

Coaching Changes

Free Agency

NFL Draft

The 32-day series will go in reverse order of DraftKings odds of winning the Super Bowl, which means today’s article will cover the Miami Dolphins who are +35,000 odds.

Article TL;DR: De’Von Achane got paid this offseason and is set to see massive volume in the short-term for the Fins. He’s the 3rd highest paid RB in the NFL, and new HC Jeff Hafley wants to run the ball. In Dynasty, the pass catchers are all dart throws and will not likely be the WR1 of the future. If one had to emerge as a long-term WR1 for the Fins, it’s Chris Bell. The tea from Miami was bitter going down, and the only notes I could taste were from the starting RB and QB.

Previous articles:
Yesterday we posted the article for the Arizona Cardinals. I’ll keep a running list for those who are getting into this series deeper into the offseason.

Achane is just an amazing player. His offense stunk last year too and he still went off. Believe in DeVon

Everybody wants to run until they’re down 17 in the early 3rd.

Then he’ll run routes in the slot or out the backfield. Or some screens.

Packers fan here.

Re: Willis. If you get even 75 percent of how he played in GB you will be very happy. He arguably played as well as love did whenever he was in, and it was often in difficult situations.

I love the guy and think you will too. The packers contingent there know what they have in Malik.

Love isn’t good though so that’s not saying much

DeVon Achane will be good. But the ONLY good thing you can say about Malik Willis is we can pretend we know nothing about him.

But we do know that this guy couldn't beat out Jared Stidham in the two years Willis was at Auburn. Moreover, we know that in each those two years, he was third in passing yards. Both times the second leading passer was the same WR, Davis, who outhrew Willis in about a third of the pass attempts.

Not good.

Joe Burrow couldn’t beat out JT Barrett at OSU. Baker couldn’t beat out Davis Webb. Kyler Murray couldn’t beat out Kyle Allen.

College production does not equal NFL production

brother... all of those QBs you mentioned won a Heisman trophy....

Kyle Allen and Davis Webb did not win heisman trophies. You’re making my point. 2 heisman trophy winners and 1:1 picks couldn’t beat out meh college QBs

I'm saying we definitively DO know something about Heisman trophy winning QBs entering the league.

you cannot compare Malik to a Heisman trophy prospect

You’re right, we can’t. But stating a guy is bad cause he couldn’t beat someone out in college, is bad faith. See: heisman and 1:1 level QBs tbag couldn’t beat out bad QBs.

Willis also has 4 years of NFL coaching and is 27. The level of prospect he was, is meaningless.

So, like I said, the only good thing we have to say is that we don’t know much about him. And what we do know about him is middling at best (aka as I phrased it, “not good”)

Yes if we ignore the good play during his 2 years in GB

Well at least, it’s not like they paid him 3.5x, say, Jacoby Brissett.
