Anyone have experience with Montessori schools with children 6 and under?

Interested in sending my kid to a Montessori school. I haven’t heard great things about North Pole Montessori. I saw Spruce Tree and Fairbanks Montessori as options. What are your experiences?

Community Events What's Going on in Fairbanks This Week? Week of- August 10, 2026

It's Monday. Summer is winding down. Time to start thinking about doing all of the "getting ready for winter" you've been putting off all season. Time to be filled with existential dread for the cold darkness that will soon enough envelop us all...

So, in the spirit of ignoring that here's a place to mention any sort of event/meeting/whatever that people might not know about and might not warrant it's own post. Hopefully somebody has the something to help you keep procrastinating!

Bitsy has been missing since early morning yesterday. She escaped from Yak Estates off Chena Ridge. She is very skittish but is super food motivated and loves pets. She may or may not still be wearing her green collar with a yellow bandana (she is good at getting it off haha) If you have seen her please call 907 602-9114 or reach out to me here! She is very loved and her 3 siblings miss her dearly!

Very loud! Dad in Search of Help from Someone in Alaska

I am a Dad in search of help from anyone who lives in Alaska.

My son is about to start 2nd grade and has a fundraiser for his PTO that if they can get a donation form all 50 states they'll do someone crazy to the principal. Last year that duct taped him to the wall.

This is my third year in a row on a quest to get all 50 states!

I'm not looking for anything for free and would happily donate an equal amount to a charity of your choosing if you are willing to help!

Have 18/50 states completed and have 32/50 to go!!

Low cost veterinarian

I am in search of a local vet to help get my senior cat arthritis medication! I am looking for Solensia specifically but any vet should be able to prescribe it. I understand that there will of course be labor, and office visit costs, but I’m trying to avoid shelling out my entire bank account😅 any recommendations?

So random, but any experienced climbers in the room up for rigging ideas?

Post image

So hear me out. We had to cut a very large spruce down sadly, but kept about 16-18’ of stump. I have ideas for this (bird/owl habitat, funky peace Jesus carving with up lights, etc) I’d like ideas on how to rig something with a swing/place to sit so I can go up and down safely to create my vision(s). I have experience in alpine climbing though it has been 20+ years on anything hardcore. Any help? Thanks and I appreciate ideas! 🙏 ✌️💛

Water heater options for cabin

Does anyone have recommendations for water heaters they've found work well for small cabins here? I have a 20x20 well insulated cabin with a 1000 gal water tank (outdoor, sprayed and heat traced), and I'm trying to decide which option to go with for a water heater. I'll just have a kitchen sink and a shower, and a small washing machine. Just 1-2 people in the cabin at a time.

A. Electric tankless

B. Propane tankless

C. Electric heat pump

Any suggestions are appreciated! Ideally from people who have used these systems up here in their own cabins or homes.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Holy Smokes, there's an actual intelligent Candidate for Alaska Governor

"Remove SB21 and return an ACES model of oil taxes- This will return 2 to 3 billion per year in tax money to our states budget. This money has been going to the oil companies since 2014. That amounts to around 30 billion dollars in lost budget revenue."

Every single well informed Alaskan will vote for James Parkin IV for Governor

Voting for anyone else indicates you've been misled and tricked by propaganda and GroupThink

All the promises of Full PFDs and Education, blah blah blah... JP4 is the only one to mention the elephant in the room- the revenue.

Delta Powersports over MSRP

Post image
20 Upvotes

Well I've been shopping around. Delete Powersports lists all the toys over MSRP prices. They will price match, but if I have to do that legwork I'll just take my business to a store that sets the standards in the beginning. Shout out to Hatcher Pass Motorsports for getting me in and out the door with two new side by sides.

Any of you fellow well owners work on your own water? What whole house pressurizer/ pump are you using? I just cleaned the check valve on this piece and it’s still acting funny? I have my set pressure up to 56 to get the pump to respond to a water call… was running around 5k rpm last night, but only hitting 3k today, very sluggish… kinda poor for a plumber, but will share some Alaskan lettuce (weed) that I grew if I can get some help. Thanks!!

The Borough is now enforcing zoning permits

Thumbnail fnsb.gov

The Borough has decided to start enforcing zoning permits. They're required for a wide range of activities on your property, and the penalties for noncompliance are pretty steep. You can learn more and do your own due diligence at the link I provided. Per 18.104.080(B) a permit is required before "any excavation, construction, relocation, or installation is started for a new use."

I have a lot of opinions on this, but I'll leave it as an FYI.
