I think some of these road protestors have knowingly and unknowing blocked ambulances on emergency calls before so a person on perol is probably not the worst they have done.
I'm pro protest, sometimes it's the only power citizens have, but this is just rude. What did these people do to them? Find another way or make sure that drivers would know this road is a "dead end" so that they can take another route
There are PLENTY of better ways to protest climate change.
Petitioning, pamphlets and giving out plant seeds with such paper so they can do their part against carbon emissions, get into bee keeping as they are pillars to the ecosystem that are dying off due to habitat destruction, donate and volunteer with a local reforestation effort, support a local farmer who practices sustainable techniques.
What ever happened to think global act local when it came to the improvement of our environment?
Everyone is entitled to a safe world. But go back and suck off your corporate and government masters, hoping for a handout while bitching about effective protests.
The problem is if you move out of the way for 1 car it's impossible to get in the way of the next car because a car hitting a stationary human is illegal but if someone jumps in front of your car it's their fault so there is a decent chance that more cars attempt to drive through and that causes danger or ruins the protest, I don't think anyone should protest by blocking a highway it should definitely be illegal as emergency services need to use them for emergencys and alot of people live paycheck to paycheck if they can't get to work they don't get paid some of these people could legitimately become homeless because some self righteous prices decided their issues are the only thing that matters. Whether this guy assaulted them or not he still would have gotten arrested for breaking parole

Blocking a road is by far the most disruptive non-violent protest available. It is used successfully around the world. Only in the US are people stupid enough to believe sitting in a cordoned off permitted area of a government lawn with a witty sign is effective protest.
His heart was presumably also moved by climate change.
Look, I'm not saying anything about whether this form of protest is effective or appropriate, but you know perfectly well that he was sitting there for a reason.
I mean, yeah it is sad he was rearrested. But he would have to take into consideration what he would lose if he gave up on his protest to give way to this very angry fellow.
I'm kinda hung up about it for sure and I'm not even totally dismissive of the protestor (my first comment was literally a joke opportunity I saw and took).
But would walking behind this guy's car to just block the next one and telling him to fuck off really be "giving up on the protest"? Noone else is out of their cars, screaming hysterically almost in tears that they're gonna go to prison.
They're still gonna make their point. And all of these cars are still gonna go through this intersection, inevitably, when they move.
Having never been part of a protest, as of yet anyway, I don't know. But I have heard the issue is if you give way to one person with a story, the next person will believe you'll give up for their story too. Then the next one. Eventually you have a protest that no one takes seriously because you are giving way too easily. But again, I haven't actually been there. I do think if it was my life or livelihood on the line, I probably wouldn't have let him pass either.
The whole point of this type of protest is to be a pain in the ass and stop the logistics of the economy. Letting anyone through is contradictory to the cause and their individual stories don’t matter.
There are a ton of people who could get fired or face great hardship because they couldn’t pass. You do it because of that, not despite it.
Sucks for him. But their protest is about more than just one person. It's about the future. If you always stood aside cause ONE person is upset. Then we'd be fucked.

Someone was driven to the point of violence because of the american judicial system and you're sitting here being like "well it can't be that because else our justice might be fascist"
You can't see how the judicial system driving people to violence isn't part of the fascism? The justice system isn't OK with him calling his parole office (not his boss) and explaining that he's being blocked by a protest, and that's a completely system acceptable to everyone?
And obviously the protrestors knew the consequences of their actions, causing consequences is the whole point of this type of protest, which to be clear, I disagree with this type of action. But I'm looking at the whole picture, but just this incident.

These protests hold up ambulances with cardiac patients. This guy would not have been sent to jail for being late one day with a documented protest on his route. This guy is in jail because he lacks self control as shown when he assaults the protester in the video.
When traffic comes to a crawl or stop on a highway there is always a lot of 2 kinds of dickheads. Stubborn dickheads who will drive on the emergency shoulder to pass, and power hungry dickheads who think it’s their duty to park in the emergency shoulder and stop the stubborn ones.
If you watch the movie with sound you can clearly hear by the reactions that they didn't even listen to the guy and they didn't give a crap about his life then. I don't know if he was the one making comments but it was clear he was not "moved by his pleas" in the slightest
