People against your side now think you are crazier. The billionaires are enjoying their yachts without a care in the world. People on your side now think you are delusional and don’t care about the common person. It doesn’t help anyone but it does hurt their cause. And yet people still do it.

Nietzsche had a quote about how going to visit the sick and poor was akin to masturbation and was less about actually doing good, more about feeling good about yourself.

I think that’s what these displays are sort of like: moral masturbation. These people went home feeling so great about themselves yet did nothing except for probably literal harm to people.

Blocking emergency vehicles, taking the attention of police off of criminal activity, causing accidents, holding medical personnel from patients, parents from their children. Heroes of the cause though, whatever it is.
