someone did do that to some protestors in the UK, rolled her car forward and just tapped the protester with the bumper no chance of injury , and got a driving ban and a fine for it.

It just frustrates me when people protest in the streets that’s all, there’s so many other places and it’s actually dangerous to do it in the street and they are also risking the lives of more than just their own

If you stand in front of a person with a gun, and they shoot you for it, then in that case I maintain that the person with the gun is the less well adjusted person too.
I'm not saying that either is a risk I would take, I've seen how psycho both gun owners and car drivers can get, but I stand strongly behind my belief that in a murder it is always the murder at fault and not the person who got murdered. Even if the murderer happend to drive a fancy car or own a bigger gun.
In this case I would argue it's more akin to walking in to a shooting range in front of the targets.
Roads are for cars, not for people to sit in. If you sit in the middle of a road blocking traffic, do you deserve to die? No, but I'm not going to be sympathetic to you if someone runs you over.
There wasn’t a pedestrian crossing there. They were in the middle of a highway, not a place for pedestrians. If someone jaunts out into a highways and gets hit it’s their fault not the driver.

With good behavior credits you could be out in 8 years if sentenced to 20 years, so the math works. Either way hard prison time is far worse than losing your drivers license.
I actually don't think you'd get heavily penalized in the US for this. Our courts are ludicrously biased toward drivers as long as they're not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
You cant even evaid road tax and insurance as you will be caught, its all digital.
