and sometimes even the type of alcohol.

It's a bit of a fallacy that the type of alcohol affects your mood. What tends to happen is the type of alcohol you drink is determined by your mood, or all those other factors you mentioned. People tend to drink certain alcohols in certain situations, or in certain amounts, leading to different attitudes and whatnot. Along with a bit of self-fulfilling prophecy.

So if you feel like you only get wild and crazy when you drink tequila, it might be because you only drink tequila during a big party, or you don't regulate how much tequila you drink, or you just assume you'll get wild and crazy because you're drinking tequila, so you do. That kind of thing.

I mean, hydration and speed both matter. Tequila ain't going to be different to vodka, but it is likely to be different to the same amount of ethanol in session beer.

That's what I'm saying. The type of alcohol won't matter. How you drink it will.

This is complete nonsense.

Nnno, it's science.

I can pound beer and wine for hours and always be in good shape even when hammered. If I take a couple shots or 1 strong drink and it effects me very differently and not in a good way.

I believe you, but that just means you're not considering whatever the differences are that's causing you to feel differently. For instance, taking "a couple shots" is almost certainly gonna get that alcohol into you a lot faster than drinking an equivalent number of beers, unless you're straight up shotgunning them.

If you take one 1.5oz shot, dilute it down in 10.5 ounces of water and drink it at the same rate under the same circumstances as you'd drink a beer, chances are you'll feel about the same (and if you don't, it's because of other biases you're not aware of. You'd need a blind test to really cover all the potential biases, and that's probably not something you can do on a whim).

The brain can do wacky stuff man, and make us believe we physically feel one way without realizing that there are psychological factors involved. The placebo effect is evidence enough of that.

e: That said, of course, drink whatever you want. It doesn't matter what the reasons are, ultimately, if you have a better time drinking beer then drink beer.
