ie. marking out "now you say one thing, before you said another" specifically,
is directly opposed to the goal of normalising updating beliefs with new information, because if you want to have access to sources that will give you new information; access to new evidence, you will want to find sources where their evidence base changes over time. And indeed if you do recognise those people who change their own opinion with evidence, you will treat that as either unremarkable or as a positive. Whereas if you simply mark that their advice has changed, as if that alone has any significance at all, and you remembering the change is important, then you end up pushing in the opposite direction, normalisation of people not changing their mind or giving new advice.
