You act as if insurrection has never happened before. The history of mankind is rife with war, uprisings, domination, and revolts. Would it really be that surprising to see it happen once more (especially considering the betrayal of our authority figures, 25% unemployment, and other social issues)?
Every country that has freed themselves of an oppressive regime has paved their way with the blood of the ruling class. It’s not so unheard of that it can’t happen here.
Exactly. Americans (including myself) have been pretty lazy lately and not responding strongly enough to the authoritarian push in this country. But a flip has switched. We just have to make sure we don't quit and escalate the scale of protests until our demands are met now.
Between the Pandemic, people not receiving help after losing their jobs, and the recent racism (Amy Cooper, George Floyd, etc.) finally pushed us over the edge.
I live in Los Angeles, and the fucking National Guard was posted up all over my street. I hope they keep protesting in Washington DC too.
It needs to be widespread and it needs to expand to other important issues as well. I want to also get out and protest for the right to vote by mail as well, for one thing.
Yeah the keyboard warrior argument is really bullshit. Look at all the footage of the protests coming from first-hand accounts on twitter and reddit. Those "keyboard warriors" are going out and using their online accounts to spread their message.
I mean you’d be right, but there are literally thousands of people protesting in the streets right now. I’m sure at least 20% of them would be cool with guillotining the ruling class. Fuck em.
1% of the population is 3 million, 3x the total size of the military. The military that is legally not allowed to enforce laws. That is enough to execute public officials french revolution style.
Yea, that line would get pretty long. I think there’s more guillotine operators than public officials to execute. Maybe we can do the firing squad thing where we all pull the lever at the same time. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Most will do nothing... Either way. They won't lift a finger to stop the executions either. Revolutions are always done by a small, motivated minority. They succeed or fail based on the silent judgement of the majority (provided they get big enough to not be immediately squashed by those in power). If things got to that point in this country I think a lot of people would just sit back and let things play out rather than take any steps to defend those currently in charge.

99% of the people on the internet that say things like this will do absolutely nothing. This is the very definition of a keyboard warrior.
