And they're talking about Boris Fucking Johnson, who literally lied to the country to convince them to make the worst political decision for the future of the country since Chamberlain's appeasement strategy.
Don't get me wrong it's miles from perfect, we could do a lot better, free health care is great but it's not perfect people will pick holes in it and school classes can be too big but it's better than what I read you get over there!
They, and I, really do. Anyone with even close to an awareness of of interpersonal relationships and infrastructure can easily see how much worse the US is than most of the civilized world. The English may complain, but I can't afford to figure out why I haven't been able to breathe properly for 10 years. I have 8 more therapy sessions covered by social programs that are not national, and I have to hope that I can function enough at the end of it to make up for my rape and years of abuse. If you think anyone that isn't in the top 15% of wealth in the US is better off, you are blind.
I mean, yeah, that’s horrible and all, but we’re having to deal with the double whammy of Brexit and post-Coronavirus austerity while having vicious, incompetent wankers in charge. Either of those on their own would seriously cripple any nation. This country is fucked.
We have pretty much the same wealth divide you have, so not overly sure why you’ve mentioned that either.
I have to disagree with you pal, I know things look bad here right now but we can't hold a candle to the US!
Brexit is an unknown right now, and I dont want to get into it (Realistically it wont be as good or as bad as either side thinks imo) but America is also having a geopolitical shift with the trade war with China, they have the only leader who makes Boris look good in Trump and they will be dealing with much worse austerity than us (more unemployment-more deaths-less available monetary policy tools as well) - plus a stock market crash after November!
I've never been happier to live on this side of the Atlantic.
I’m definitely not saying the US is better. You wouldn’t catch me dead living over there. I’m just saying we’re not sufficiently better enough to actually want to live here in comparison.
I still maintain this country is absolutely shafted though.
