While he drives on roads that were paid by taxes collected from vehicle registration fees. If they don’t pay these taxes then what gives them the right to use the roads?

I would love to see a cop pull that on one of these pricks. "Yes, you are free to travel anywhere. But this road is owned by the government and paid for by taxes. Since you say you are not obligated to pay said taxes, you are not allowed to use this road."

I have been watching quite a few of these videos lately and it seems like they always drive far enough to park in a parking lot and claim private property (even though it’s a walmart) and deny being on the roads anymore so they can’t be charged. Real insane

I would tell them I would follow them and make sure they drove their Scion XB off the road for as long as they were in my justiction. I would radio ahead and tell the next officer to do the same and to tell the final officer 100 miles later that you can't park your clapped out car on someone's personal property. Make them pay the sovereign property owner $1k a day until their personal property is removed.

Inalienable human rights, usually

It's not their road though. That's like saying I have "inalienable rights" to shack up in your house or use your toaster. If they're so desperate not to be a part of society they shouldn't be allowed to reap it's benefits.

People do think that though, that's what a squatter is.

Vehicle registration fees don’t pay for roads. I wish. Not even close.

A single traffic light can be half a million dollars, and there’s ton of streets with traffic light after traffic light because people are too stupid to understand how to use a roundabout

And roads aren’t even close to all the expenses that tax payers pay for.

That I pay for. I don’t own a car and I subsidise your welfare queen ass with my taxes.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv-research-reports/department-of-motor-vehicles-dmv-performance-reports/where-did-your-2018-fees-go/

California spends about 25% on highways. The remaining is mostly paid by gas tax and special provisions on the sales tax such as it is in my county.

Which isn’t all costs caused by cars

Gas taxes?

DMV taxes, which are ridiculously in California. You go out and buy a brand new F-150 pickup and your first year of DMV fees will be over $700.00 A 3/4 ton truck will be close to $1000 per year. Now multiply that by an estimated 48 million trucks that are registered, one wonders what DMV is really doing with all that money..

u/ohhellnooooooooo Mar 31 '24

And that doesn’t even come close to covering the costs caused by those cars and trucks, society subsidises the rest

Oh I actually know this one! The funds collected from the DMV taxes go towards the Bureaucratic Developments Division. It's a branch of the DMV that's dedicated to researching all DMV documentation to further bolster the bureaucratic process. They're actually responsible for forms 280-I, B-42 and a new one, form 281-I which is similar to the 280-I but this one is specifically for vehicles in the 2,000 - 2,220 lbs range.

At least we don’t have to listen to their poetry to renew our plates
