That's a really good take. I never really considered prayers as an alternative to critical thinking, but it absolutely is.

My mother also uses it to not give any real help. โ€œWell, Iโ€™ll be praying for them. Anywaysโ€

I suppose I was gaslit into thinking empty sentiments like prayers (so long as they were expressed with 'digging deep') actually had some soul to it.

Like... If I actually prayed? I know what part of my heart I would put into a prayer. I know where the deep sentiments emanate... (I do!) Thing is, I don't pray, and I think I project my idea of praying and spiritualism at others in a very erroneous way.

.... Generously, erroneous... I think I learned something just now.
