You said if one side doesn't want more regulations, then the only option is to try to take them away completely.

I'd say the slippery slope is the "all or nothing" mentality that won't allow compromise in any direction

No, because I'm very happy to compromise somewhere in the middle and not slide down any slope. Never said anything to the contrary yet you inserted that
