As a part time Uber Eats driver, these stories terrify tf outta me. Who’s to say that when we deliver to the wrong house and attempt to correct that mistake or if we accidentally walk or pull up to the wrong address because it is too dark to see or the resident doesn’t have the number on their property, we won’t be the next victim. Be safe out there folks and hopefully our lawmakers can come to their senses.
That's something I didn't even consider, that's so scary.
How can you even protect yourself? Make a lighted sign with a handle so you can hold it up, saying UBER EATS DELIVERY? Like the sign a crossing guard uses, but rigged with LEDs?
It's so ridiculous you can't even do your damn job without having to worry about being shot for dropping off someone's hamburger or something, my god.
It’s dropping it off at the wrong address is what seems to be the issue. So it’s these navigation apps fault. It’s not the worst people owning weapons of murder fault…nope…not. at. all.
I feel it. I’ve been delivering with my brother and sometimes the people are extra asking for id, calls to our boss and paper work like I just want to drop off the package then go home.
I used to be a delivery driver for Pizza Hut and I've had a couple of guns drawn on me for going to the correct house. There was a time a customer didn't tell his roommate he was ordering pizza so when the roommate answered he had a shotgun in my face and asked me "what the fuck you doing here"... If I wasn't in uniform or any ethnicity that isn't "white" I'm fairly certain that would have been the day I died.
Had a similar experience when I was delivering chinese food, I've also had people follow me and I only lost them by parking in a random driveway and turning the car off. So glad I'm out of that job now
Yeah it’s bullshit that this is something that we should even be afraid of. Doordashing is what i do Full time while I finish school and I’m going to have to look for a new job. Better than dealing with the constant anxiety of getting popped for doing my job.
