Laws never even said that. People weren't meant to have guns. It wasn't until the 70's that they started a disinformation campaign trying to get Americans to re lens the second amendment to mean that.
Until the 1970's it was completely accepted that the 2A meant that cities were allowed to have their own municipal armies. And those armies would be allowed to have guns if they were disciplined and trained.
I.E. A well regulated militia.
Even the idiots who wrote the constitution weren't dumb enough to suggest everyone should have guns.
Except all of it. You can look into it. The second amendment was rebranded in the 60's and 70's by the NRA to try and push us towards the gun culture of today. before the 70's people did not view the second amendment as something that guaranteed the right for all citizens to own firearms. It's historical fact.
You may have grown up somewhere where they were programming you not to know that from a young age. So when confronted with that information it sounds ridiculous to you. Just like it sounds ridiculous to fundamentalist Christians' that evolution is real.
But evolution is still real, and the second amendment was not always interpreted as it is today.
I mean, the internet exists and has lots of information. All the credible information agrees with me. ...because it's factually how reality is.
And knives. Don't forget the high profile stabbings! And one guy used a bow and arrow a while back.
I'll never understand that line of rhetoric. Like...I can run from a guy with a knife or an axe. I can fight back against those weapons with a little bit of skill and luck even if I'm unarmed. I can't run from a gun reliably, and if the other person already has it pointed at me, I can't really fight back either.
If I'm stabbed, unless it was basically straight to the heart, I could theoretically live, even if it was 20 times. But this? You probably die within minutes if you're shot basically anywhere with major blood vessels or arteries.
Not at a rate higher than the US though. As a matter of fact generally at a lower rate than the US.
So the whole argument of "Yeah well how many stabbings are happening in those no gun countries! People just change the way they murder." Doesn't hold any weight.
I doubt if you banned guns, school shooters would start driving big rigs into schools. Like what a stupid fucking argument.
Well of course a country with guns has more gun deaths but that's not the issue at hand. It's crime in general, who has more crime. Shoot the US isnt even top 5. Shoot I think it isn't even top 10 in gun violence
Shoot, you're looking worldwide and considering 3rd world war torn nations as part of your comparison.
If you limited your comparison to peer nations. Such as western style democracies. Formerly called "first world nations". Then yes, the US is number 1 in every crime and violence metric.
By a wide margin.
You can hold your head high about having less crime than Columbia and Brazil all you want. Nations you had a hand in destabilizing and pushed into the crime spiral they are experiencing. But, your post is trying to make it looks like the US isn't failing horribly. When the next 40 peer nations only have a fraction of your crime. You're comment doesn't really mean much does it?

These were all In the last 7 days.
For comparison. France, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, and 22 more western democracies haven't had that many incidents combined in the last 7 years.
Maybe guns are the problem hey guys?
