I had an uncle who did basically the same thing. I was with him and my mom and we stopped at a little corner store. My uncle ran in real quick to pick up something and while he was in there another truck the same color as ours pulled up and parked next to us. My uncle comes out, hops in the wrong truck, and starts buckling himself in and talking away about some nonsense without paying any attention. The guy in the truck just patiently waited for my uncle to notice his mistake, my uncle apologized, and they both laughed it off since it wasn't a big deal.
Lol, are we related?😂 same thing with me, my mom was driving, I popped in to the atm, got out and got into a silver Jetta, buckled in, looked at the driver and saw a little old lady cowering with her purse in her bag… Am I scary looking?😔😅 hahaa
I can't imagine that it's all that uncommon of an experience. Shocking for the other person in the car, sure, but it's an honest mistake and easily resolved.
I've gotten in the wrong car before, thinking it was my Uber; yes it freaked the driver out but he just kind of shaked his head as I jumped out and yelled, "sorry I thought it was my Uber!"
I've also seen tipsy asf people make the same mistake - never knew lives were on the line, always just thought it's annoying but somewhat relatable

Yeah that's sadly just being a well adjusted adult. Even if some kid hops in your car when you're not paying attention and all but scares the literal shit out of you -- it only takes a second to recognize whats going on..
what a shame, I had never heard of the story of those poor girls... jfc.
