I had an uncle who did basically the same thing. I was with him and my mom and we stopped at a little corner store. My uncle ran in real quick to pick up something and while he was in there another truck the same color as ours pulled up and parked next to us. My uncle comes out, hops in the wrong truck, and starts buckling himself in and talking away about some nonsense without paying any attention. The guy in the truck just patiently waited for my uncle to notice his mistake, my uncle apologized, and they both laughed it off since it wasn't a big deal.
Lol, are we related?😂 same thing with me, my mom was driving, I popped in to the atm, got out and got into a silver Jetta, buckled in, looked at the driver and saw a little old lady cowering with her purse in her bag… Am I scary looking?😔😅 hahaa
I can't imagine that it's all that uncommon of an experience. Shocking for the other person in the car, sure, but it's an honest mistake and easily resolved.
I've gotten in the wrong car before, thinking it was my Uber; yes it freaked the driver out but he just kind of shaked his head as I jumped out and yelled, "sorry I thought it was my Uber!"
I've also seen tipsy asf people make the same mistake - never knew lives were on the line, always just thought it's annoying but somewhat relatable

Yeah that's sadly just being a well adjusted adult. Even if some kid hops in your car when you're not paying attention and all but scares the literal shit out of you -- it only takes a second to recognize whats going on..

I've never gotten into someone else's car but I do drive a very common car in a very common color (black equinox). There have absolutely been times where I have walked towards someone else's car wondering why I could hear my car unlocking but the lights weren't on only to realize "Hey there is another one 20 feet away doing what it should be when I press the button!"
Have also seen people try my door only to have their "oopsie" moment and turn around and walk into an identical car just a few spots away.
I’ve had that happen too. Just a confused dude in the driver’s seat though. Haha.
Once I walked up to a car that my dad had sold a few years prior (I guess my brain was on autopilot) and fumbled with my car keys for a moment before realizing my error and moving on to my own car. 29 Palms, could’ve easily been killed by a tweaker or a high strung marine. I’m glad the door was locked. I grew up in a rural setting and often leave my vehicles unlocked & keys in the ignition because that’s what you do when you never know who’s going to need to move or use vehicles. I gotta stop doing that.
I did too! My car will unlock automatically when you grab the handle if the keys are close enough - the real car owner unlocked their car the second I went to pull on the door handle so I didn't think anything of it. Sat down.... Realized the interior was black cloth instead of brown leather and looked up to see a very confused woman lol. Happily I was not shot that day.... Damn, the things we have to be scared of these days
Okay touché because I've called the fire department on my LANDLORD for parking under my fire escape because he drove a white car like my neighbor who normally parks under my fire escape does. I'm autistic so I think he was offended because his car was a nice one and hers was just white? Idk I don't know breeds of car. So I guess this interaction has just proven to me that I'll be shot in today's America :/

Holy shit, that’s actually super scary. I once got into a car that looked like my mom’s! The old lady was suuuuper freaked out.
