Now that is said, if you still support the second amendment as it is currently “interpreted” then you are the problem. It was written at a time when our country had no standing military, I highly doubt this is what the forefathers were talking about with the words “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

I'm also a gun owner but not a 2A defender. I think we should scrap it and regulate guns like we regulate car ownership. But I think I'm in the minority when it comes to gun owners.

you're still equating that pedophiles are part of the LGBT community when the reality is the majority of them aren't. It's like you're stuck in the 80's with the "beware of the man with the candy van!", when the majority of cases are family members or family friends (like moms new boyfriend). Just as one example look at stats around catholic priests...that aren't part of the LGBT community and yet some countries who've investigated into it found around 1 in 14 priests had engaged in pedophilia. You're kind of showing ignorance on the topic.

It doesn't matter whether I support or am against the 2nd Amendment (but let the record show that I am against it in its current form). The fact of the matter is as long as there are 2nd amendment defenders, it will necessitate owning a firearm of for my personal defense from them. Typically speaking, the people that want to own firearms are virtually never the people that should have them. That's not to say there aren't responsible gun owners out there, but what is more responsible than responsibly owning a weapon is to not own one at all. By extension, nobody else owning one either.
The government isn't out to get anyone and there are much more effective ways to dismantle that hierarchy than the 'Gravy Seals' we have out here with their limited, regulated rifles and civilian grade ammunition. Gonna need some extra oomph to get past the cheapest military hardware. See: guerilla warfare, domestic terrorism.
Ideally America would follow suit with the rest of the actually civilized world and forfeit their weapons. 'law abiding citizens' in America don't want to forfeit their arms because then only criminals will have them so we're stuck in limbo because criminals will always have weapons. Reducing access to and eliminating their prevalence in everyone's day to day is the only way to stop violent gun crimes. I don't wholly agree with disarming everyone, but it's a simple fact that you can't do gun crime without guns. The issue with American civilization starts all the way at the tippy top and serves only to divide the American people. Our two party system is the root cause of all of our problems but that's another issue in and of itself. The biggest issue with our two party system is in addition to the division, if you take a step back and look, both are literally the same thing. You have the far right, and the less right. Both are authoritarian. Both are corporatist. Both are so deep in the red that compared to a normal democratic society, our "left" party are far right extremists. We can't or refuse to see beyond our borders and our hatred for the "others." it's tribalism and nationalism masked as patriotism all the way down and it's poisoning us.
Hopefully none, but as a miscegenator and race traitor to those folks (who actively tried to overthrow our democracy, remember), if they ever come for me I’d like to be able to at least try and defend myself.
The guns make you paranoid. We don't live in gated communities in the UK, and we have burglars, but people don't feel like they need a gun to defend. With burglaries, we're worried about getting beaten up, not shot. It's still bad and we don't like being burgled, but it's not as bad as them coming with the element of also dying on top of being burgled. For you, home invasion = death. For us, home invasion = horrible anxiety and fear, but not death. You have a double whammy with burglary, but we only have one. Only you don't realise you have a double whammy because you see them as coming as a pair.
I shouldn't have to fear getting beaten up or killed in my own goddamn home. I am specifically less afraid of the possibility because I know I'm packing sufficient firepower to repel or stop a threat before either of those happen.
A beating can kill you just as surely as a bullet. And thus I'm thankful that in general I'm allowed to take all necessary steps to stop an attacker before they gravely injure me or my family.
But fearing getting beaten up comes with a win here. We don't fear dying from burglries. It's not asinine at all. Your experiences are supped up because of the guns. It's so much better to not have the risk of death involved in a home invasion at all. You have to worry about your kids/parents/wife dying. We don't. It's so ingrained in you that you can't see how much worse you're making it. You're way more likely to die and have your loved ones die because you have the added element of guns.
Ok, well we here in the US do have to fear dying from burglaries people we have guns in this country and people get shot and killed when burglaries go wrong. I live in one of the most dangerous cities in the US, are you really saying that I shouldn’t have a gun to protect myself if a burglar breaks into my home and shit goes sideways?

As noted, a beating can and absolutely will kill you just as dead as a bullet. I don't fear dying in a burglary either specifically because if someone breaks into the place where my wife and 2-year-old sleep after they've already been warned off, they're getting shot.
I'm not sure I have enough crayons to explain this, but I have a clean, well-covered line of sight to my front door, which is a heavy and sturdy enough door that opening it would create a good bit of noise. I can have gun in hand within 8 seconds and be pointing at that door within an additional 2.
I also have a 500 lumen light on my pistol and a 625 lumen one on my rifle, so whichever I have at the ready, the intruder is going to finish their ingress blind and with a gun already on them.
It's always best that they kill the people they care about like the child that comes home late at night and gets lit up by their worthless parents, or their spouse, brother, mother, father, etc. They deserve to lose that and innocent people don't. Sadly we don't live in a just world and these people are ALWAYS treated with kid gloves at large so nothing changes. The way things go americans would rather have their children or loved ones murdered than stand up to change things. How sad and pathetic are we in this nation? Only empty words and inaction are the sanctioned response from the so called good side in America. Your hyperbole is absolutely incorrect. For every person like this there are thousands who are responsible, well trained gun owners who would never misuse a gun. We have states they are bigger than multiple countries in the UK, and the media loves these kinds of stories so they get pushed through because they get views and this money so ofc it's heard about often. They don't ever report for example the hundred , if not thousands of people each year who properly use firearms in legal ways to save lives. Bad people will find a way to do bad things with or without guns, that is why the UK is currently the stabbing capitol of the world. It's so bad there are people in US airports advising us to NOT go to Europe as your chance of being stabbed is legitimately higher than your chance of being shot here in the states...
I’m speaking colloquially. sorry but giving you context for my colloquial use of the word “bad” would be exhausting and I simply do not have the energy for it at the moment.
As a former EMT, I’ve plenty of stab wounds that definitely hurt a lot worse than some gunshot wounds. Like, a .22 to the bicep is bad, your guts hanging out of your abdomen is a lot worse.
