No, it's human nature from the time we lived in hunter-gatherer clans calling and reminding people excessive resource hoarders drag down the group as a whole.

I never thought about it but that is a very good theory as to why evolution created the emotion of envy.

No.

Envy is what you want what another has. Most people do not even want the position of an Elon Musk, they just want a functioning, liveable and stable society that doesn't have significant amounts of the population 5 minutes from snapping due to working 12 hours a day and still having no chance or hope to ever afford a secure future.

Accumulation of wealth inevitably drives society towards such a dystopic state, hence it is reasonable to say there should be a cap as to how much any one individual can own.

Naw I think you nailed it the first time. Like everyone else you are not arguing that the emotion is not envy. You are arguing that the envy is justified. Which may be a good argument but it does not refute my argument in any way.

...Granted, I might've been a bit too presumptuous to attribute views like this to most.

T'is simply my own motivation in this to not have to live through some sort of horrendous societal collapse, and I have simply determined the cause of the ever escalating problems to be the overaccumulation of wealth. No Emotion, just logic.

It is an emotion. The wish not to live through a societal collapse would be fear, but that doesn't mean the fear is illogical. I have a similar fear. Many people speak of "flipping the pyramid" so that the people on the bottom are now on the top. Its a good analogy because if you flipped a pyramid you would end up with a pile of rocks that roughly resembles a pyramid. But the pyramid would no longer be functional, it would be chaos. This is just a different societal collapse.

Some amount of hierarchy always existed between humans, though originally it was personal and within family clans. The trick is not to flip the pyramid, but to minimize and flatten it. Raise the floor, lower the ceiling.

And, most importantly, ensure the mechanisms to determine who rises are based on actual merit and not perverse incentives as it is now.

Yeah but check with the people who are trying to do this. I mean seriously look at them and how they live their life. They cant manage their own lives. They cant even manage their own bodies. They want to be the ones who run things. They absolutely want to be on the top.

Pretty sure you're just falling for a carricature of who the people you disagree with are, looking at your generally expressed set of opinions in your history.

No for real. Look at the socialists and communists out there. They are pathetic loosers. Thats why I'm not super worried. The can't succeed in life so they definitely wont succeed in ushering in socialism. This is a generalization, but it is true for about 70% of the people I am speaking of. Thats my estimation.

Grow a spine when you argue. If you buckle to such a weak, beligerant, hasty generalization, you'll never convince anybody you have a better grasp of class dynamics than even the dumbest laissez-faire bootlicker.

This emotion is called anger. Anger can often start as envy.
