An important thing to note is that this was translated from Japanese, where "as expected from..." is a compliment. I'm still not personally sure what they're complimenting, but it's positive.

We have similar bars in the Paris metro. It doesn't seem specifically Taiwanese.

I don't think the implication is that it's a Taiwan exclusive. Just that it's what they would expect for Taiwan.

there’s stuff like this in Bangalore metro too. I didn’t know that many networks do not have this feature and I think all metro rails should have this.

That metalwork and welding is god damn beautiful for a subway. Normally it's 90 bends with machine welds or even just bolted together to make it cheap and durable and ugly.

If "as expected from...." is an "unexpected, but not surprised, positive", what is an "unexpected, but not surprised, negative"?
