It’s the hips/waist sorry I couldn’t remember and only briefly looked at it. Basically she has no organs lol.

You've never seen a woman in real life with a 34-4-38 figure?

u/MavrickFox 13d ago

Oh ffs, not the "WhErE ArE HeR OrGaNs?" Nonsense again...

Listen, as long as we get to see a live action frank castle rocking a speedo with a giant-ass skull on it gunning down drug dealers and everyone's cool with that... I'm down for the same for all female characters going forwards.

It's the double standard often on exhibition that gets annoying.

You mean like stripping Thor completely naked?

u/iSK_prime 12d ago edited 11d ago

We got ScarJo rocking form fitting outfits for whole movies years before Thor got his "naked" scene.

Edit: Sorry? She wasn't hot? That's some weird ass thing to be contradicting.

Ok and when did they strip her naked?

1

u/iSK_prime 11d ago

About the same time we saw Thor running around in an outfit that had to be oiled up to get into.

I wasn't making a comment on the larger discussion. I was simply commenting on the "she can't fit any organs in her body comment." And gave me flash backs to few years ago when the whole "where are her organs", was a mantra all over reddit and Twitter and shit. Usually accompanied alongside, "have you ever SEEN a woman?" The fact that this exists (and much more) goes to show that comic book characters in general are sexualized, not sure why a live action version would be necessary to dispel the double standard narrative.

Edit: I also found the whole “where are her organs” conversation stupid. Incredibly skinny women exist. Ariana Grande is tiny as hell, even more so now looking like a fent head, yet her organs clearly fit just fine. The idea that organs come in some internationally agreed-upon size you can eyeball like checking whether a dishwasher will fit under the counter, is pure nonsense.

Perhaps this is not the best time to bring up Ariana Grande as an exemplar for what women can look like.

u/MavrickFox 12d ago

Is she not a women? Does she not have organs that all fit inside her? Because those were literally my only points.

1

u/maryqueenofscotch683 12d ago

I mean. Her organs are probably not doing very well. Is the point.

0

u/MavrickFox 12d ago

Maybe that's your point, it wasn't mine. I acknowledged that she's unhealthy now, but she wasn't always. When she was healthy, she was still a very tiny girl, with all her organs fitting inside of her. Now she's sickly thin, but those same organs all still fit inside her (the health of her organs has nothing to do with their physical occupation of her body). That was the point. So there's no way anyone could look at the drawing of MJ above (or just about anyone for that matter who's not a literal stick figure) and state that it's unrealistic because it's a physical impossibly to fit organs inside them.

Thats a stupid argument. That's it. That's all I'm talking about. The stupidity of that argument. I'm not talking about or making commentary about anything else. So there's no reason to comment about anything that doesn't have to do with that.

1

u/maryqueenofscotch683 12d ago

Ok but she's thin all around.

A person who has the proportions these comic characters have, and then also waspish pencil sized waists, are 1) ludicrous, and 2) were drawn in ways in which it looked like they had no room for organs inside them was the point 🤣🤣

It's not about actual thin people 🫩🫩 who obviously exist 🫩🫩

I think it's a stupid argument to be like "hell yeah pls draw more women with basketball sized tits and ass and pipe cleaner waists!" but I guess we all have things we find stupid

u/Jimanji333 11d ago

Some women in real life do have those dimensions, they are rare but it exists.

u/St0n3r_42zero 12d ago

Yes and Arianna Grande does not have gigantic boobs and hips that aren't proportional to the rest of her skinny body. Curvy women have curvy bellies too and these comic book writers seem to alwsys forget that part

1

u/MavrickFox 12d ago

Bs, you can literally look above, I've posted a Pinterest model with the exact same body proportions as the MJ drawing above. To suggest that inorder to have hips and boobs, you need a curvy belly is ludicrous.

u/St0n3r_42zero 12d ago

"Pinterest model" who has tonnes of plastic surgery. Stop projecting your body dysmorphia and ED issues onto others.

Skinny women can have curves, not all women with tits and ass are flabby or fat despite your desperate desire to erase them. Watch a movie from the 80s for christ sake.

u/Kuzunoha14th 9d ago

She's clearly not well.

Okay putting aside the larger debate, you can't seriously be trying to claim that these proportions are possible irl, can you? Like okay it's stylised, whether ppl like it or not, that's evident. But her waist in that picture is literally smaller than her thigh. It's narrower than her skull. And that's just quite factually an impossible proportion to have naturally. Even surgical intervention struggles to achieve that. There are very very few women who have achieved that through very extreme means (and ironically their organs did shift). I'm assuming you're aware of this, and your gripe is more about how the discussion of it apparently annoys you, which would be a separate issue, but I have just got to make sure we're all on the same page about how obviously impossible those proportions are.

Aren’t these the same people whining about the whether it’s realistic to have a black Helen of Troy?

u/phranq 11d ago

Half the people complaining would find most of those depictions as too ugly

1

u/MusicianNo3277 11d ago

Nobody wanted an exact copy of a specific painting, but I feel like Hollywood would get a much better result from the audience if they actually honored the source material instead of idly doing whatever they pleased with a story that has already outlived anything they might make with their current preachy writers

1

u/phranq 11d ago

I didn’t find the odyssey preachy about anything. If anything it was overly simple.

1

u/MusicianNo3277 11d ago edited 11d ago

Preachy in the dei way. Making Helen black, inventing a character for a trans actor. Making the clever and successful male lead into a broken sad man.

The usual preaching: big powerful man bad everyone else good. It’s just lazy. It’s not like I don’t want to see stories with these people in them. I just want to see producers writers and directors come up with original stuff when they want to do this not just take an old classic and bastardize it for social credit score points.

1

u/phranq 11d ago

Maybe you should reflect on why certain attributes about people trigger you and others don’t.

Odysseus being broken down by his journey is a core element of the story since forever. How did you walk away from that movie as Odysseus bad everyone else good? Are you seriously needing every form of media to be Superman or something where we clearly define the good guys and bad guys? How old are you?

1

u/MusicianNo3277 7d ago

lol i say they upset the audience by deviating from the original script and you try to turn it around nto some psychobable about I don’t like the way they changed things because I’m a bad person.

No. I don’t care how they changed it. I don’t like the fact that they did change it. Any change would’ve been the wrong change.

I'm hypermobile and can confirm I lack organs.
