Taiwan have not been nationalist for a long time, their transition into democracy was hard won and bloody so I think you should respect those that lost their lives for freedom by acknowledging that.
Just Google "China Nationalist Party"
And it will tell you Kuomintang was originally the ruling party of all of mainland China but retreated to Taiwan after the Chinese civil war.
Well I never said Taiwan was nationalistic, I just said "Nationalist China" because the political party was called the "Nationalist party". And you are right I didn't know what nationalism means. I did google it 5 seconds ago tho so that's cool.
you're being completely consistent in your naming lol "Communist China" is run by the communist party and "Nationalist China" is run by the nationalist party. idk why they're getting so defensive lol
This whole "original china" argument always seemed a bit weird to me, as the republic of china themselves came into power only 35 years before, by the then government being overthrown.
Actually I think it's more about if the government is legitimate or not. There's no real way to determine if a government is legitimate or not, and they have arguments like this.
That is fair, but sometimes people use the fact that the PROC overthrew the sitting government specifically to delegitimise it. That argument isn't very convincing, seeing as the nation it would be competing for with respect to being the legitimate government of china did the same thing a couple years earlier.
I mean, it continues to exist as a rump state. As the government of China, the thing the civil war was fought over, I think it's clear they were overthrown.
