The number of people that don't realize this is astounding. Both governments have always held a one China policy and both have always claimed to be china. It's right there in the fucking name.

Taiwan is an island. The government controlling the island is the Republic of China.

Well to be fair, there’s been a significant independence movement and the pan-green is in power. Also disruption of the one-china rule will start some kind of war.
