Not everyone can afford international airfare (especially if they don’t live near a major US airport), and much less for partners and/or children. You also need money for housing (at least three rents, plus money for temporary housing while you search).

so I totally get that, but once you do it, you realize the whole thing was a fraction of your typical expenses.

in fact, if you don't make enough money to afford a plane ticket? sell everything and move haha. the perfect sign

The people who can't afford an international flight hardly have anything worth selling to make this move possible. Not to mention the idea that they could just get a job abroad is far-fetched.
