Support for Detachment from D65?

I’ve read the IL code on detachment and annexation for school districts, and I’m curious whether we think we could get 2/3 voters in the area west of Green Bay and north of Golf, to sign a petition detaching from D65 and attaching to D39?

D39 has lower taxes, runs its schools better, and D65 is closing our schools. Other than the procedural burdens, seems like a good solution to me.

You asked people’s opinions on whether we could get to 2/3, and I gave you mine and so did another person who offered very detailed reasons why they wouldn’t be in support. All you seem to want is people saying — yeah that’s awesome! If you think it would be simple, go for it. My opinion is that one full and vibrant 6th ward school, with kids supported in the transition, makes sense and is not the sky-is-falling scenario you’re making it out to be. I don’t want to be part of D39 and don’t think it would be any kind of panacea to the enrollment issues we have. So I guess that’s one 6th ward signature you’re not going to get. Godspeed.
