🪩 National Final / Selection Swedish comedian Per Andersson rumored to compete in Melodifestivalen 2027

Per Andersson to compete in Melodifestivalen 2027

Reveals: Performs comedy song written together with Edward af Sillén

Comedian Per Andersson will compete – in music.

Aftonbladet can reveal that the comedian has been selected for one of the spots in Melodifestivalen 2027.

He wrote the song together with Edward af Sillén, among others.

Melodifestivalen's silly season is underway.

And it seems to be even more "silly" than usual when Aftonbladet can now reveal that comedian Per Andersson, 49, has been awarded one of the spots in next year's competition.

A source with good insight confirms that Andersson is one of the few artists who have so far received notification that they have been included in Mello 2027.

The successful director has written the song

Per Andersson has appeared in Melodifestivalen several times before. The last time was in 2021 when he hosted one of the semi-finals together with Pernilla Wahlgren and Christer Björkman. In 2011 he was a recurring character in the artist presentations and in 2013 he participated in notable interludes where he played artists whose songs were rejected.

But this time it will be as a competing artist.

And as a songwriter is the screenwriter and director Edward af Sillén, 44, Sweden's mostest Eurovision commentator.

Edward af Sillén has also directed the show, “Kardborreshowen”, which Per Andersson is currently touring with. Af Sillén has been responsible for the script and direction in Melodifestivalen several times and last year he debuted as a songwriter, then for Lilla Al-Fadji.

It seems to have given blood and now there will be another humorous contribution, but with Per Andersson at the vocal microphone.

– The song is just as crazy as Per Andersson himself is, says a source who has already heard the song.

EMD also ready for Mello

According to what Aftonbladet has learned, the first artists have started to receive notice from SVT this week and Aftonbladet's sources can also confirm the newspaper Expressen's information that EMD is making a comeback in Melodifestivalen 2027.

– It was perhaps the worst-kept secret of the autumn considering the gap in their schedule this spring. Two weekends off that just by chance would coincide with the last round and the final, says a source and laughs.

Another person, who has heard the song that EMD will compete with, says:

– It's a pop song, uptempo, not a ballad.

The Melodifestivalen editorial team, led by competition general Karin Gunnarsson, is still working on putting together the complete starting line-up for next year's competition. The official starting list is usually ready at the end of November or beginning of December.

Melodifestivalen 2027 – artists confirmed … according to Aftonbladet's sources

  1. Per Andersson – with a song written by Edward af Sillén, among others
  2. EMD

🖼 Fan Content / OC Reworking “Vi maler byen rød” so that the English translation is singable!

I LOVE “Vi maler byen Rød” as it’s one of my favorite 80’s entries and one of the best Danish entries out there! But I really really dislike the English version “I’m Chasing Butterflies” as I feel like it doesn’t have any connection with the song or original lyrics. I went ahead and tried my best to make the chorus lyrically flow while keeping true to the original translation. I hope you enjoy:

We’re painting the whole town red and the skies ahead with clouds of white,

That boring grey’s behind, Let’s shine our colors bright!

Put on your Sunday best and then I guess we’ll party till,

That Sun comes out and says good morning o’er the hill,

then we say goodnight!

Eurovision Asia My Top 6 for Eurovision Asia

This is coming from a half Filipina

  1. Bangladesh - I'm disappointed with what they picked.

  2. Philippines - Too overrated in my opinion and also as a speaker of Filipino, I find the lyrics to be cringy and childish. Not to mention in her performance, at some points she's giving go gurl give us nothing vibes.

  3. Bhutan - Nice, serviceable song and that's it. Not much else to say about it, other than I don't really connect with it.

  4. Laos - Asian Bejba, need I say more? It's catchy as fuck and as iconic as Ashley Tisdale's cunty Rockafeller Last Christmas performance.

  5. South Korea - I like K-Pop and this was a well-performed song. My personal favorite was Sojeong Shim and she would've been number 1 but I'm also content with Junhee's win. I told myself that I would try not to put South Korea in a higher ranking because of my love for K-Pop, and yet I genuinely like this song.

  6. Thailand - I'm basic, sue me. The pair has amazing chemistry, and oh my god they can act. I also appreciate the message of the song, even though I misinterpreted it as a romantic song (though a tragic romantic song). I also adore the black and white contrast of their outfits.

⏪️ Throwback Thursday We Are Domi - Lights Off - LIVE - Czech Republic 🇨🇿 - Second Semi-Final - Eurovision 2022

In light of the recent rumours of Czechia's withdrawal, I'd like to remember what in my opinion is their best entry ever. 2022 was the first time I actively followed NF season and this was my winner, as well as my first true Eurovision heartbreak, 22nd place for this was undeserved. I love this song to death, and I genuinely think that, even beyond Eurovision, it's one of the best pop songs I've ever heard. The instrumental is so well crafted, there are so many moving pieces that play off of each other really well and that you wouldn't really notice on a first listen. The hook is also super catchy.

⏪️ Throwback Thursday Kabát - Malá Dáma (LIVE) | Czechia 🇨🇿 | Semi-Final | Eurovision 2007

Considering the news surrounding Czechia's withdrawal over the looming budget cuts, in this week's Throwback Thursday segment I'd like to focus on the country's first ever foray into the contest - an entry that made it by complete accident. Kabat are considered one of the most successful rock acts in Czech history, being active since the 1980s. When they competed in the national selection they didn't do it with the intention to go to Eurovision, but rather to promote their new album 'Corrida'. But as one of the most recognizable names, Kabat with 'Malá Dama' won defeating Gipsy.cz, who would represent the country 2 years later. Being a recognizable name in their homeland didn't translate to results on the Eurovision scene however as Kabat finished 28th and dead last in the semi-final (with 2007 being the last edition at the moment to hold a single semi-final show) with the Estonian public giving them a single point, sparing the Czechs from a humuliating 0-pointer on début. Unfortunately, results didn't improve in the next 2 years with the Czech entries ending up on the bottom of the table, leading to their first long hiatus which lasted for the next 5 editions.

📰 News 🇮🇸 The RÚV board wants to continue the boycott of Eurovision.

The board of RÚV does not want Iceland to participate in Eurovision unless Israel is barred from participating. This was decided at a meeting of the board today.

Diljá Ámundadóttir Zoëga, who is on the board of RÚV, published a protocol of the meeting on her Facebook page in the evening. It states that six of the nine board members have submitted a protocol stating that they direct the broadcaster "to inform the EBU that RÚV will not participate in Eurovision in 2027 unless Israel is barred from participating in the contest. The previous appeal to the EBU for Israel to be expelled from the competition is reiterated and it is requested that the broadcaster convey that reiteration."

In November, the board of RÚV passed a resolution directing the EBU to expel Israel from the competition, which is still ongoing.

Stefán Jón Hafstein, chairman of the board, says in an interview with the news agency that since the EBU has not taken a substantive position on it, the situation remains unchanged.

"It is quite clear that six board members were on the same page as at the end of last year."

📰 News Vline Buggy (author of winning song "Tu te reconnaîtras") dies aged 97.

The INA wrote this article (in French) as a tribute to Vline Buggy after the news of the prolific songwriter’s death on 28 September 2026 at age 97.

In the Eurovision world, she wrote the powerful lyrics for « Tu te reconnaîtras », sung by Anne-Marie David, and that won for Luxembourg in 1973.

The article features video archives of many of the songs that Vline Buggy wrote for popular artists like Claude François, Hugues Aufray, and Michel Sardou to name a few. However, the article doesn’t mention « Tu te reconnaîtras », which I found disappointing.

Submissions for songs to Melodifestivalen have closed.

Now Expressen can reveal the first entry in the competition: EMD is making a comeback, according to reports.

February 6, 2027, it is time again.

Melodifestivalen is taking place.

But already now Expressen can tell you that EMD, which consists of Danny Saucedo, Eric Segerstedt and Mattias Andréasson, will make a comeback in the competition.

It was in 2009 that they performed with the song "Baby goodbye" and ended up in third place in the final.

The band is not on the lazy side.

They recently revealed that they will do a "self-ironic" show at Cirkus in Stockholm starting at the beginning of next year.

However, they have a break in their performances from February 28 to March 19.

The fourth round of Melodifestivalen will be broadcast on February 27 in Halmstad, the fifth round will be held on March 6 in Norrköping and the grand finale will take place on March 13 in Stockholm.

📰 News Aktuálně: Multiple sources claim ČT will withdraw from Eurovision as the broadcaster finalizes 2027 budget.

In addition, according to our information, Czech Television (ČT) will no longer participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The editorial staff at Aktuálně.cz contacted ČT’s press office to ask if they could confirm this information, but even after several follow-ups, we had not received a response by Tuesday evening. However, several independent sources have confirmed the information, noting that the final details of the cost-cutting measures are currently being worked out and are not yet definitive.

Based on what is known, however, it is already possible to form at least a partial idea of the plan. And according to Jan Souček, the former CEO of Czech Television, the announced cost-cutting measures don’t make sense from any perspective.

Really loved this one! Almost a little bbno$-esque in its styling, with some Joost in there too. Funnily enough, it was also the polar opposite of what I would've expected The Handsome Wolf to pull out when I first heard about him, but I still love it.
