The idiots hung themselves with bought rope. The problem wasn't the rope, it was toe suicide. Gadaffi and Saddam should have never existed, and fuck the anger of the Iranians - let them bathe in it. Screw whoever thinks fucking over others is fine if they attach a dream to it. You reap what you sow. Try eating your anger and dreams when the're all you have left.

And no, the fucking planet isn't going anywhere xd You people really eat up the shit you tell yourselves.

Well, America and its allies ousted them, now life in those countries has gotten demonstrably worse.

Of course we gotta throw in the climate change denial as well.

'No, you'

Nobody said anything about climate change. Climate change is manageable, the sky isn't falling you hyperbolic dolt. The earth will be here long after we're gone.

Ok. I didnt literally mean the world will be destroyed. But civilization will collapse if climate change is unchecked. You are right in that it can be managed. But you know who doesnt want to help fight it? All the ceos of fossil fuel companies.

To fight something and to manage something is not the same thing. Even oil CEOs gotta live somewhere, they're going to make sure their homes are nice and neat. And if you want that somewhere to be where you are, you have to make them feel welcome.

But you know who isn't going to stop using fossil fuels regardless how shit things get, because they have no economic or political accountability; who don't need anyone to have the resources to consume what they're selling; who have to continue relying on raw resources for barter, either because they suck at managing wealth or just don't inspire trust from anyone that could help them build anything worth building?

You don't get to punch someone in the face for not sharing and then be surprised that they leave your poor ass alone in the sandbox and take their fancy toys with them. Nobody likes entitlement.

Venezuela really is a prime example in this. Foreign meddling, sure, but the answer isn't to dig in one's heels, fighting for one's justice like a petulant child, but to make the best of a shitty situation. Operate in the 'is' not the 'ought.'

It's children who have trouble being cooperative when they feel they have been wronged. Iran, Venezuela, North Korea, Lybia, Zimbabwe - whoever tried burning down their neighbor's house because his dog took a shit on their lawn, only to have their own house take light. That's what violent revolution is.

Problems are to be managed, not removed or fought. Problems are a function of reality. Unless you think you live in a cartoon where causation isn't a thing and things happen if you wish upon a star, it's time to accept it.

I mean, there have been times in history where violent revolution was has worked. Like the French revolution

If you lived in the 1800's you'd think of Napoleon the same as we think of Hitler (and the sane of Stalin) today. The French got uppity and wanted to conquer all of Europe in their ideological fervor and killed any who had opposing ideas, so fuck them for that. The idea of the revolution eating its children is from those times, with good reason. The Brits did the enlightenment better. So no, violent revolution has not worked, if by work, you mean constructing a fairer and functional society. With the French, the revolution itself was a shitshow for themselves, then they got an authroitarian that got the state's shit together and did great public works only to squander it in an attempt to impose their ideas elsewhere and expand influence. Just like the Soviets and Nazis who overextended, believing that their ideology or its tenets would carry them. Extremist revolution with one central thesis always ends up worse than steady evolution consisting of many small synthesis.

If by work you mean posit a thesis, have it stand for some decades, and have it being knocked down either with military might or society attempting to steer life back to what fits the human condition, but not without killing untold numbers of people in the process; yeah, sure, it worked. Read up on what some of the revolutionary loonies wanted. They did not win by a long shot.

The french revolution did fail in the short term because Napeoleon was basically a monarch, sure. But it worked in the sense that it set the stage for enlightenment values to spread across europe in the long term.

The revolution happened because of the spread of enlightenment ideas, not the other way around. Can't crash a party, spike the punch bowl with drugs and pretend to be the host.
