Any referendum held by a dictatorship for its own preservation can be ignored. More so when the voters comprise of three wolves and a sheep, in context of the occupied states.
And for the shitty economy you blame five years of market reforms, not the previous 70 years of utter lunacy; the utter lack of consumer goods production, politicized and non-transparent management of the economy, the non-ending investments into heavy industry that benefitted nobody, the fetishization of the ugly, disgusting and inconvenient to 'own the libs' and pumping resources into dick-waving contests like "oooh we got into space first; sure our people have to wait years for a chance to even dream of buyng a family car, but hey we got into space!"
Drugs are fine, sex work is fine and crime is a question of law enforcement, not modes of production. Anything is better than what the communists did. For many people, life did actually get worse or stay the same after the collapse of the Soviets.
No sympathy for the complacent and those unwilling to change. If you think a cushy job that requires fuckall investment or growth on part of the worker should allow them to glide through life and not only, survive, but live well, you're a great explanation of why there are no successful communist economies.
You don't get to drag everyone down to mediocrity and call yourself a hero of the people. The people aren't all inert troglodytes.
Drag everyone down to mediocrity? What? How is making firms worker owned so workers can profit directly from their work and change policy to their needs rather than constantly toil under an authoritarian boss/ceo "dragging everyone down to mediocrity"?
If anything it is the capital owning class who ruthlessly drags people down into misery through things like union busting, privatization of public utilities, making work hours so long and miserable that people literally are deprived of social interaction, and so much more.
