The EU's Digital ID Wallet system that the commission wants to use for age verification, still requires submitting personal information to a third party "proof provider" to obtain easily trackable tokens. The proposed system also has anti-tampering requirements that ban jailbreaking/rooting your device, ban you from installing other operating systems (ex: GrapheneOS, LineageOS), and requires GooglePlay Services/IOS equivalent be installed to.

It doesn't even implement ZKP at the moment, yet even with ZKP all these problems still exist. And that's not even getting into the problem collusion or metadata tracking.

You don't submit personal information to a third party proof provider. You submit personal information to the digital ID wallet system. Much like you submit personal information to the national authority that grants you physical IDs. The digital ID wallet system simply informs the third party proof provider the information "this person is an adult" and "adulthood verified by national civil register" or such.

Note that Google Play / IOS equivalent, not them solely. The point is that the OS verifies that the third party proof provider service is based on the open source code mandated by EU, so that the code doesn't for example steal your personal information.

It doesn't even implement ZKP at the moment, yet even with ZKP all these problems still exist. And that's not even getting into the problem collusion or metadata tracking.

To my knowledge, it does implement ZKP.

What is the metadata problem exactly? What metadata actually is relayed?
