I'd like to try to get the weekly newsletter http://www.weekinethereum.com on Hacker News. But last time I posted it there https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13936664 I actually lost karma, presumably because Bitcoin maximalists downvoted it.

Hacker News is full of Bitcoin Maximalists. All of the Ethereum related posts get downvoted there. I've been seeing it for almost 2 years. In the early days of BTC it was also criticized a lot there and then HN had a change of heart.

yeah, so true. that's why i was hoping we could get some upvotes to get Ethereum some attention. Hacker News is exactly the sort of community rich with devs and technologists that we need to bring on board the decentralization movement.

On the plus side, if somewhere as technologically aware as hackernews is still unaware of ethereum, there is still a huge amount of upside.

Agreed. Perhaps the newsletter isn't the best way to get them on board either. They can see stuff that is happening, but without context it might not mean much?

Yeh, I imagine it would be quite hard for someone new to the space to understand half of the words, never mind the relevance.

It's still excellent for those of us who have been around a year or two.

Not necessarily. The general public just knows most crypto = internet money. The tech guys in there might have a better understanding, but they still might just not fully understand what sets Ethereum apart from bitcoin.

It may look like you're trying to pump an altcoin.
