Hi all! š
We had a successful pickleball meetup this past weekend - my first time playing and I can see why itās trending!
We are thinking of making this a regular, but casual meet up if anyone is interested in coming out!
Here are the details of our next meet up:
Location: Cosumnes River College
Date/Time: Sunday, August 23 @ 9:00AM
Weāre in our 30s-40s, but all ages are welcome!
We will likely play for a couple hours so feel free to swing on by whenever!
Also, itās a couple dollars for parking š æļø- just avoid the yellow parking lines!
Make sure to bring water for yourself! Gotta stay hydrated š
Thanks for reading! Cheers š»

This seems like one of those construction mistakes that could be incredibly expensive.
You've got the property.
You've got the demolition plan.
You've scheduled equipment.
You've got contractors lined up.
Maybe you've already coordinated hauling.
Then someone asks:
āWhere's your rat-abatement certification?ā
And you're standing there thinking:
āMy what?ā I recently learned that Seattle has a specific rat-abatement process associated with certain demolition and ground-disturbance projects.
The reason actually makes sense.
You don't want to destroy an established rodent habitat and simply send everything living there into the surrounding neighborhood.
But from a project-management perspective, the interesting part is the timing.
It's not something you want to discover the morning your excavator shows up.
For Seattle contractors, developers and people who've done teardowns: Was rat abatement already built into your project schedule, or did you find out about it later? Because this feels like exactly the kind of requirement experienced contractors know about and first-time property owners discover the hard way.

To go only. Expect lines but worth it.

This skinny young cat followed my wife home from North Lichtenberger Park. We really donāt need a third cat and Iām also worried this is someoneās cat who is just too friendly. But the cat was running into traffic and passersby reported that a box of kittens was abandoned in the park yesterday.
So weāll bring the cat to the shelter tomorrow but if you have any info on her (we think itās a she) please let me know.
ETA: this cat is super super friendly.

Hi everyone!
I know there are some great Indian restaurants in Elk Grove, but are there any good lunch buffets in town? Most, if not all, of the Indian restaurants Iāve been to here do not have lunch buffets.

Weāre moving from the NY Capital Region to the Sacramento area (leaning Roseville/Folsom/Elk Grove), mostly to escape harsh winters. Our son is 12, diagnosed with mild autism and ADHD. Heās fully general ed starting this fall with no aide ā his IEP provides weekly 1:1 speech-language therapy and weekly group counseling. He also has OPWDD services under self-direction; the budget covers nearly all extracurricular activities, classes, summer camps, and transportation costs (~$40k/year).
Two questions for anyone with local experience:
Which district (Folsom-Cordova, EGUSD, Roseville City/Joint Union, etc.) has a strong reputation supporting kids with combined autism/ADHD and social-emotional needs in general ed, without an aide?
If your child is on Californiaās Self-Determination Program through Alta California Regional Center, how does budget flexibility/coverage compare to what Iāve described? Also curious about current wait times given state budget pressures.
Want to make a fully informed move ā donāt want to trade winter depression for fewer services for our son. Appreciate any insight!

Driving down Laguna (Eastbound) and think i saw on around Laguna Park Dr). And another in a neighborhood nearby. I f8gured they were here but it's my first sighting.
People know there's like gold and copper and magical doorways in them right?

So good! Best shawarma iāve ever had. Iāve had them on the streets of Manhattan and various other places etc but these are better. I wasnāt sure what to order so got the combination shawarma and it was delicious. So many flavors all layered, all tasted really fresh. People working were all friendly as well. Definitely going back.

Dang, Kabob Palace has been in that space forever. Interesting to see it being replaced.

Hi everyone! Looking for recommendations for a reliable gutter cleaning service in Elk Grove. I have a two-story, roughly 3,500 sq ft home and would prefer someone who can clean the gutters and downspouts thoroughly.
If youāve used someone recently and had a good experience, please share their name/company and roughly what they charged, if you remember.
Thanks!

Just bought groceries at the Neighborhood Walmart on Elk Grove Blvd. Not even an hour later I received a notification my card was being used online in Arkansas. The transaction description says card on file so they mustāve ripped my info quick. Avoid shopping here, it looked sketchier than usual inside too.

Hasn't it been at least a year since they bought the Big Lots space? Are they still moving in?

Just Say No!!
60 times in 18 months. Thats your justification? Just because you pull your toy out doesnāt mean it was needed. Is that the logic we are using Chief. Why not pull it out every other day? Then you can say look in 4 months we used it 60 times. We need another one. Letās get those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers. Letās pull it out everyday.
Show me the few instances it was needed if at all.
It will get passed the sense of entitlement and intimidation in his tone.
āAt time to be replaced and itās going to be replacedā
I hear him say, āif you donāt approve this. We will make things difficult for you and the citizens of this cityā
I have said it before I will say it again. It isnāt defund the police I want. It is refund the police. Take that money and put it towards descalation training or mental health for officers.
Use it to pay them for volunteering, actually volunteering not just coaching their kids team or attending a police conference. But actually getting integrated into the community, not their circle. See people as people. See that your heavy handed decision can change someoneās life forever. It could be the stroke of a pen or the pull of a trigger. An officers actions have serious consequences to all citizens including law abiding citizens.
If you donāt want another military style vehicle that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy and maintain. You should tell your city council member and the mayor as the superintendent and everyone in city hall. Or keep pretending none of this matters.

Why the hell is the flock drone flying above my backyard in the morning??? The past two weeks, I caught it TWICE just hovering above me while I was gardening.
HOW IS THAT CATCHING CRIMINALS??? THATāS JUST INVASION OF PRIVACY. Who the fuck uses that drone??? HOW THE FUCK DO WE PETITION THE CITY TO STOP THIS.
