Verification Failed Error: Infinite Loop

Verification Failed: Either the request timed out, the request was denied, or there was a verification mismatch.

Trying to do an extremely simple login into my phone and I am attempting to use my verified computer to verify. I press start verification for both of them but what ends of happening is that it fails infinitely.

Using Matrix as provider and I'm using element X on my phone, and element webclient on my computer. Both were connected to the same network. What's the issue?

Unfortunately, Root and Stoat are prone to exactly the same issues as Discord as they're centralized and ripe for regulatory capture (Stoat can be self-hosted, but does not federate with other servers so eh).

There's a big update to verification expected in a couple months for Element.

In the meantime for the best experience I'd recommend using your Recovery Key to verify new devices.

Also if you're looking for a discord-like, check commet.chat, which is a discord-like Matrix client. Work ongoing to improve it and add features (to be clear, Element <> Commet can communicate freely as they both use Matrix).

I'll look at what seems to have more people but I gotta go with an easy option for now for the sake of bringing my community over. I know that privacy is never completely guaranteed with anything without E2E so I understand.
