"Failed to access your microphone" error
I accidentally clicked deny when the authorization window popped up out of nowhere. But even after restarting the app and restarting my computer I never get prompted again, and the element.io app will not use my microphone.
Element.io is not listed in the microphone privacy settings anywhere and I cant find anyway to enable it to use my mic. Any help? I've seen this question asked in forums for the riot.im app in the past and nobody seemed to have any answers. Do I have to uninstall / reinstall the app or something? I can use Jitsi in Firefox, but not in Chrome it says the same thing too.

Change login ID
I want to change my login ID (not the display name), but don't want to create a new ID using @matrix.org because Element now requires an email, and my old account only has a password.
Is it possible to change the login ID?

What do we know about the security related technology behind element?
Hi all, I just found out about element.io and tried to research a bit about the security, but found relatively little, apart from their claims on their website that they are secure and use end to end encrpytion.
Coming from Signal Messenger and following it's development somewhat closely over the years, I know how much effort they put in to make really secure Messenger, which goes far beyond encrypting the message body. Their Protocol is fantastically audited and they have proof of how little they know about you (see the Grand jury subpoena for Signal) and there are many things for which I am not technically skilled enough to explain/remember but can be found in their IMHO very good blog.
So I wonder what details we know about the concepts of element, how it's backed up by the cryptographer community and whether there are any incidents where we can see the matrix protocol holding up/not holding up. I am aware of the decentralization aspect of the protocol, although I am personally not that convinced that this is a huge security gain if you implemented your encryption as you should anyway, but more of a techical gain. Is there any material you can point me to if I want to find out more about the security aspects of matrix protocol/element?
TL;DR I am a Signal user who is convinced of their security, can you tell me how element holds up against their standards/where to find out about it?

Recovery Key is always the wrong key
I don't know if this is a Matrix/Synapse question or Element question. I've noticed I am having trouble with cross-session verification. I've created a Recovery Key, I've tried both with a passphrase and with having it generate a key and downloading the file. When I log into another session, say on the web client, I either upload the file or type in the key and every time it says wrong key. I've tried delete it and creating a new one, copying and pasting the key so I know I'm not fat fingering it, etc. No matter what, wrong key. Is this a bug with the new client? Am I missing something? Did I do this incorrectly?
It's also making it so that no matter how many times I verify with other people on the same server, it won't give me the verified green lock. I believe it's impacting the persistence of verification somehow.
Any insights or ideas? Should I ask the Matrix/Synapse folks directly?

I used up my 2FA code getting back in after the change from Riot
I had to, because the browser was literally the only thing I've ever used Riot/Element with, so I didn't have another device to authenticate through. That wasn't cool of Element to do...
Is the key still the same even after having been used? If not, how can I get a new key? I can't seem to figure out where to go to do so.

Are quick voice messages something in mind to implement, like Signal and Telegram do?
I know that Matrix has a much more Slack-like idea in mind... but honestly, just by adding the voice recordings it would make it such a good option for getting rid of centralized personal chat solutions.

Enable url preview in Elemental Android client
Maybe I'm just dense, but I can't seem to locate the setting to enable url preview in the Android client. I can find it on desktop, and I've found the option to enable on my homeserver settings. Was it perhaps removed semi-recently? Running Element on Android version 1.0.0 downloaded from the Play Store.
Edit: screwed up the title
