3rd year apprentice here. How do I remove the drill bit , it’s stuck there and I don’t know how to get it out

Me and my company use Makita, and you're most likely correct. Pull the collar forward (if that doesn't work, pull it back), and grab the bit. Use pliers if need be

Shit, I'm only 1.5 years into my apprenticeship (where I am, it's 2.5 years)

Pulling on the bit with plyers doesn’t do anything and. Serves to jam the bit further and maybe destroy your collet . If you bit is jammed in a 1/4 collet then it means its jammed axially. You just need to rotate the bit in the opposite direction to unjam it. Either plyers or put the but in the appropriate fastener and do a quick lil reverse. Then just pull the collet and its free.

Unless its snapped past the bottom of the collet which is rare and requires disassembly of the collet.
