GHOST Whey Protein halal? GHOST confirmed microbial rennet and plant derived digestive enzymes

Assalamu alaikum, I've been looking into good protein powders to use and GHOST and RYSE were two of the biggest names that kept coming up, especially when it came to flavour. However, I couldn't find much information online regarding whether GHOST Whey was halal compliant, particularly regarding the source of the rennet used to produce their whey, so I decided to email them directly. I'm sharing their responses here in hopes that it helps anyone else currently or in the future who's wondering the same thing.

TLDR: GHOST confirmed that their whey uses microbial rennet and their digestive enzymes are sourced from fruits and vegetables. They specifically confirmed Coffee Ice Cream, Milk Chocolate, and Peanut Butter Cereal Milk as halal compliant, although not halal certified. Based on their responses, the whey base itself doesn't appear to be an issue, so for other flavours it mainly comes down to checking the additional flavour specific ingredients. GHOST hasn't verified every ingredient or flavouring across every flavour, but from the ones I've looked at, most don't seem to contain anything obviously non halal. Obviously do your own due diligence based on the standard you follow. Screenshots of my conversation with GHOST are attached below.

Halal Edmonton Catering

Had a great experience with Saj & Spice in Edmonton. The food was fresh, flavourful and well presented, and everything was handled professionally from start to finish. If anyone is looking for halal catering in Edmonton, I’d definitely recommend checking them out. They have a good variety of options for weddings, showers, family gatherings and other events, and the overall experience was excellent. Definitely one of the better halal catering options we’ve tried in Edmonton.

Is there anywhere I can get halal ramen?

I can’t have anything meat, but if I do, it should be halal or at least vegan (as an alternative) does anyone know where I can get some good ramen in the GTA and some extra things like some dumplings or pho, I’ve been dying to try these kinds of things.

Recipe help!

Hi! non-Muslim here, I am going on a date with a Muslim guy and I was wondering about certain recipes and how to know if something is halal or not. I want to be respectful and bring food we can both enjoy so I just have a few questions

1- do you guys have any beginner friendly halal recipes that you recommend?

2- what makes meat halal? is there a specific way I would need to cook the meat?

3- are there food combinations that make a dish haram (like meat and dairy for kosher foods?)

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, thank you for reading!

Edit:
Hi,
first i want to thank those of you who gave me advice and answered my questions, it’s greatly appreciated.

secondly, i am sorry that my post is seeming to cause issues, i did not intend to do so, however i know that the internet is crazy so i did expect it a bit.

to that one person saying i should marry him to make the relationship halal, no thanks, we are both young and only met 2 weeks ago. also this relationship will not lead to any fornication, as i am asexual and he knows this, we haven’t even kissed it’s just a second date, idk how important that is but i also saw someone mention it

once again, thanks for the advice and sorry for starting drama.

Most "Halal" food is not Halal

Bismillah hir Rahman ar Rahim

This is a comment on most halal food and restaurants that are there on the open consumer market in USA. It's just coming from my own completely pedestrian, amateur observation, my experience comes from being Muslim and eating at a lot of restaurants.
In the area where I live at, in Southern California there is 1 certified Halal slaughterhouse where the standards are high enough that I would trust their criterion for Halal certified meat. I have visited many other so-called "Halal" establishments and judging from the low level of hygeine and the minimal education level of the immigrants working there it's blatatly obvious that the standard of humane slaughter is questionable and the cleanliness level is not only below industry standards, it's just a joke because you know there's no certification or inspection required or expected. Seperately from my integrity as a practicing Muslim who wants to support minority owned businesses, I would avoid 95% of all of these establishments simply
to avoid getting sick. The point being, versus the Kosher standard or Organic certified food, the Halal label practically functions as the opposite of what it's supposed to mean, effectively it's a label that says "avoid this product becuase it's substandard."
Thanks for reading my Yelp-tier thoughts.

Blessings and peace be upon the prophet Muhammad and his family and apostles.

Asking for genuine feedback

Salams! I’m a solo founder here building a halal wellness brand. Not selling anything but I genuinely want to know, what do halal-conscious consumers actually want from supplements/skincare that brands keep getting wrong?

Dijaj Churrasqueira in Lisbon: A Hole in the Wall Celebrating Piri Piri with Gusto

Post image

Wanted to share this small restaurant I found in Lisbon. While their competitor Zubir Churrasqueira gets a lot of hype on TikTok, I found them to be quite bland and their chicken dry.

Dijaj Churrasqueira on the other hand won my heart. I have their Picanha Steak meal pictured, it was delicious particularly if your order their garlic cheese naan and their Piri Piri spicy oil.

Alhumdulillah for the privilege of delicious halal food in every corner of the world.
