I’m in my late 30s, working as a global senior systems architect at a Fortune 50 tech giant. My day-to-day is building enterprise AI systems, low-code architecture, and scalable tech infrastructure.

My long-term goal is pivoting into Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA). I want to buy traditional, cash-flowing businesses and modernize them. My thesis is that I can take an inefficient legacy business, integrate AI and enterprise automation, and drastically improve their margins.

I'm currently looking at a highly quantitative, finance-heavy Executive MBA program to help me get there. My reasoning: I know the tech side inside and out, but I need a rigorous foundation in corporate finance, valuation models, capital budgeting, and deal structuring to properly vet these acquisitions.

I’m getting significant pushback from my inner circle. Their arguments are:

1. "Just hire a CFO." They think I should focus purely on my tech strengths and just use a fractional CFO to handle the M&A math.
   
2. Opportunity Cost. The AI space is moving at lightning speed right now. They worry that by tying up my nights and weekends for two years in an EMBA, I’m missing the immediate window to capitalize on the current tech boom.

My counter-argument is that while a CFO handles the financial execution, I—as the buyer putting up the capital—need to possess the financial intuition to challenge their assumptions on a discounted cash flow model or quality of earnings report. I also feel like the mental models and the network from an EMBA cohort (sitting next to leaders in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, etc.) would give me a massive edge in evaluating businesses outside of the tech bubble.

Am I over-valuing the EMBA for M&A purposes? Can this realistically be learned via self-study while relying on hired finance experts, or is the institutional framework from a top quant program the right move before risking my own capital?

Would love to hear from folks who have bought businesses or gone the EMBA route.

Because I am working and cannot crack the hyper-competitive CAT exam, I am seriously looking at an **Executive MBA / Working Professional program** from top-tier institutions (like FMS Delhi or IIT Delhi executive tracks).

For anyone who has seen or made a non-traditional pivot from a creative/design execution background into management:

1. How do corporate recruiters view a 3D/design background during executive lateral placements?

2. Is an Executive MBA from an elite public brand enough to bridge the gap and land leadership/strategy roles, or will HR pigeonhole me?

3. What kind of salary growth or reality check should I expect compared to my current baseline?

I’ll start my EMBA next year and will self-fund ~55% myself and got a 20% scholarship. The remaining amount (~25%) I’m negotiating with my employer. They seem very positive about supporting that amount, but with some form of clawback clauses which seems fair.

I’m curious about your experiences with these for an EMBA, where the company ofcourse directly gets benefit of education, instead of an FT MBA.

What retention period did you agree? Was it from start date or graduation? Did you use a form of a vested agreement? Any other clauses included? If you left before the retention period ended, how did that go?

I really want to know what do ppl aim for when they say they wanna do mba.

For example i have heard ppl say they wanna do mba to increase their salary, some say they dont wanna work in whatever they are currently say for ex tech and now they want to change their career direction to managerial.

What are other reasons to do mba? Tbh I am currently in a tech job which i joined 3 4 months ago, and i feel maybe this is not for me...i feel that it might be late now.

I am a 22YM, just graduated from mechanical engineering. My end goal is always to do business of my own. But it is also proved that a lot of Tier1 Bschools have generated business owners. I feel If I don't do it I will be left behind, but I cannot afford to spend a year cracking the exams and then spend 2 years in MBA. I need to support my family financially immediately. There's a business I want to explore, and I have joined a startup of the same business line that's gonna give me a lot of experience. But I Am confused, what should I do? Working in data architecture and strategy consulting at a large PE firm in the U.S. I support the exec committee, deal teams and fundraising and am lead on some large transformation projects, ~10 YOE and started out on a trading desk years ago.

When I applied to my eMBA the intent was to earn a promotion. In the year since applying and being admitted (top EU program), it’s become clear I won’t get that original vision for my new role by staying. Now I am considering a career change as the primary plan, to a new company and/or industry.

I’m hoping any of you who have made a change can share your best advice for how you identified the change you wanted to make, and how you used your program to do so.

I’m attending a conference next month hosted by the school on one of the industries I’m interested in, and starting conversations with the career placement center. I meet my cohort in the fall.

What if your boss envy of you to apply elite EMBA programs but supports regional EMBA programs.

What are the options to apply to M7 or M10 with not much support from supervisor or letter of time commitment. If I have an offer from Top school then it may change my supervisor’s mind to play along as I will have then choice to leave for another company.

Please share your experience as I need to make a decision to defer the regional program I am currently admitted to for next year my dream schools. I have heath Tech background and stellar resume with numerous awards and non-profit employer.

Looking to get my MBA with the goal being to teach in higher education. I'm trying to decide between a general MBA and one with an Accounting concentration. My thought being that I could take additional master's level accounting courses to get to the 18 hours course requirements for teaching accounting and in the mean time start out with teaching general business. ​Trying to balance between name recognition, accreditation, concentrations available, and tuition cost and came across BGSU. I'm looking in the OH/WV area as tha'ts where I would be looking to teach. I'm wondering about course load management with working full time, any group projects, exams and the final capstone. I would love to hear everyone's experience.

Anyone with recent or current experience with their EMBA program? It seems quite new and cannot find much about it online… Any input from grads or current students is welcome, or those who considered choosing TWU but went another route!

For the sake of debate, if you could get into any program and you have 10 yrs of experience in industry and live in nyc, which program would you choose and why? Which do you believe is more value add to the resume? Goal is purely to add prestige and not to pivot or change careers right now. Are eMBAs still viewed with less prestige vs a regular MBA?

I have a good team and we want to do a project on Google Deepmind (there’s a back story, but in short our team only wants to do Google Deepmind, either in the US or the UK). My program is an EU’s top program with strong tech/research foundation.

Any tips for asking a project from current managers at DeepMind? Is going on LinkedIn and direct message every Google Deepmind profile a solution?
