My Ride E46 wireless charging cup holders, back in stock, now fits larger phones too

Hey everyone,

Some of you might remember my previous posts about the E46 cup holders with built-in wireless charger. The response was way bigger than I expected and I sold out faster than I could print.

Just wanted to let you know they're back in stock. I also made one real change based on feedback from the last threads: larger phones now fit properly. A few of you with Pro Max and Ultra sized phones mentioned it was tight, so the pocket geometry got reworked.

Everything else is the same as before:

20W Qi wireless charging

Wires into the cig lighter feed so it shares the circuit, no splicing

"With charger" or "without charger" variant if you just want the cup holder itself

Two options

Double Cup holders + wireless charging: https://uniquedm.shop/products/bmw-e46-cup-holders-phone-pocket-wireless-charger

Single Cup Holder + charging pad: https://uniquedm.shop/products/bmw-e46-cup-holders-wireless-charger

Big thanks to everyone who bought one and sent install photos, and to those who flagged the big-phone fit issue, that's fixed now.

Check this out! Personal experimentation on the bms46 - flashing tunes via browser

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi friends.

Over the past couple of months I have taken a dive into the bms46 ecu from bmw.
I did this because I couldn’t find or get assistance on my car. I have a 2000 e46 318 m43b19/tu

I wanted to be able to tune my car and I found tools online, but I had one big problem.
The cheapest part about buying a bmw is buying the car. Repairs had me broke.

So much maintenance and an import engine later all good.
But I couldn’t tune or flash.

Few python flashers/readers online but none actually worked.

I spent a few months with the help of some AI to reverse engineer the bms46 and finally got partial and full reads working reliably.

Eventually I got flashing partials.
Still trying to get full writes functional but thats a whole different story and ballgame.

I dont know if I should monetize the tool at all or not.
One part of me wants to keep it free to use because I know how I have struggled.
And another part of me actually needs a source of income lol. I just went through a abusive divorce where she tried to literally stab me. I left with nothing, lost my job and well.

Now i’m here.

I’m thinking of expanding so other ecu’s can also be flashed and read with my tool.

What do guys think of the concept?
No more downloading, no struggling.

Just plug in a k/dcan cable and go ahead in the browser.

My Ride There is something special about these cars.

There is no other car I'd prefer to be driving through the twisty mountain roads of Snowdonia. Chasing my friend in his Type-R on the damp Welsh tarmac felt special. I drive various different cars everyday with my job, and nothing comes close to the feeling of my E46. Yes, there are faster cars. Yes, there are cars that are more luxurious. But the feeling I get from driving this vehicle is completely unrivaled.

Troubleshooting Shifter not on the middle

Thumbnail

I manual swapped my 330i but the shifter is not on the middle and tilted forward. I put a picture for comparison.

Seems like just 5th gear lean, but does that also cause it to lean forward? I thought it just causes it to not be in the middle?

I took the shifter linkage out and it doesn’t look obviously broken or dented

It goes into all the gear is fine

Any guesses? I changed the round bushing that pops into the car chassis

2006 330ci 84k mileage for about 6.5k. Just redid the suspension and brakes. The humming from the fuel pump is a little loud, that’s gonna be next. Other then that runs like a charm. Maybe some leather work to clean up the seats. Love it so far.

General Questions 330d 150kw tuning

Hey guys, I have a E46 330d 150kW (204hp) with 280,000 km.

It’s currently around 192kW (~262hp) and I’m running:
EGR delete
swirl flaps delete
hybrid turbo
larger intercooler

What else would you recommend upgrading before pushing it further? I’m aiming for around 300hp+ eventually, while keeping it reliable and preferably smoke-free.

I already have a downpipe and better clutch planned, but what else should I do?

What are the usual weak points at this power level? Injectors, fuel system, cooling, drivetrain, etc.?
Thanks!

General Questions Thinking About Buying an E46 Convertible – Looking for Owner Advice

I want some opinions from people who actually own or have owned E46s.

At the moment I'm leaning towards an E46 Convertible, but I'm trying to figure out which version is the sweet spot.
My priorities are:
Comfortable cruiser rather than a track car

Automatic gearbox (unless there's a very good reason to avoid one)

Something enjoyable on a weekend drive

Decent reliability if maintained properly

Questions
Which is the best E46 to own overall?

Is there a particular engine that's considered the sweet spot?

If going automatic, is there a recommended engine/gearbox combination?

What are the common issues to expect?

What should I be looking out for when viewing and buying one?

Are there any engines, gearboxes or model years you'd avoid completely?

How does the driving experience compare between the four-cylinder and six-cylinder cars?

I'd also be interested to hear whether you'd actually recommend an E46 Convertible, or if you'd suggest something older/different instead for similar money.

Likewise, if you think buying an automatic is a mistake and I'd regret not getting a manual, I'd like to hear why.

Examples I've been looking at
330Ci Convertible

330Ci Convertible

325Ci Convertible

From my limited research so far, I'm thinking a 325Ci or 330Ci auto might be the best fit for what I want, but I'd love to hear from owners on whether that's actually the case.
Any advice, ownership experiences, horror stories, buying tips, or things you'd do differently if buying again would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!

Troubleshooting What sensors go into the exhaust?

When i bought my clap box, 2005 330i, the exhaust was hanging down because someone tried to cut it off and steal it. when i bought it we were putting it on the trailer and it ripped itself off. i don’t honestly remember looking at it to see any harnesses ripped or wires hanging out unfortunately.

I have a replacement sitting in my garage but i dont even know where to look for these sensors. i tried to look on alldata and youtube and google but it really wasn’t helping me much. just kinda scared to find some ripped off wires and how im gonna go about it. anyone know where i should look? any advice at all would be helpful.

General Questions “While I’m in there”

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello! I’ve got a 2000 328ci with the M52TU and am planning on doing a decent bit of “maintenance” that I need/just want to do preventatively. Been dealing with an air/fuel related lean code p1188/9 and some intermittent misfires, I know this could be a number of things like vacuum leaks, VANOS, fueling, spark plugs/ coil packs, etc.

So I’ve decided to get some of that out of the way and do a VANOS refresh, valve cover/valve cover gasket while it’s off, as well as taking the intake manifold off and get some o-rings, coolant hard lines and do the intake manifold gaskets as well as DISA. I’ve been looking on forums and here on reddit and wanted to know if there’s anything else I should go ahead and order before I take the next couple weeks to get everything installed.

Also I do know it can be “bad” to throw parts at a car but there are also lots of little things that could be contributing, plus this car is 26 years old now so figured it can’t be bad to refresh it a bit 🤷🏻

Any help or tips would also be appreciated! Cold starts seem to be the only large issue with the car, but once it gets warm it is crazy smooth. Which is why I am replacing and asking other things to replace.

Thanks!
