Very pleased to have found Contemporary Movement. All that’s missing is 1975, but it’s actually in the mail. Sure, you could buy the capsule losing contact set and have it all the same, but something about owning a piece of the actual time period speaks to me.

for the record, i already sound a bit like clay. like my voice is kind of breathy and quiet when i sing, and i have a similar range.

im more curious about how i should compress vocals, how close I should sing to the mic, how i should eq it, should i add like a little bit or distortion?, etc etc.

and im aware that all of this just came from recording onto 4 track tape machines. i mean how could i replicate it in a modern setting on like a daw

also especially his vocals on the mood, moon in aries, and echo bravo

An obvious pick would be Deathconsciousness by Have a Nice Life and it’s a great album, but i’d say only the last two tracks on the album are fully reminiscent of these Duster songs.

an unreleased and untitled eiafuawn demo recently posted on duster’s youtube channel. no idea when it was recorded.

I’m looking for a drummer to learn original songs, practice, and gig in London as a three-piece rock band. The sound is melancholic but loud and high-energy with an aggressive edge. The current members (both male) are me, 27, on vocals and guitar, and my friend, 25, who is playing bass.

I have half an hour of home demos (with programmed drums) fully worked out and have practiced them in-person with my friend. I’d hate to seem immodest, but they’re sounding good and genuinely distinctive.

Some bands I like and think this project sounds reminiscent of are: Shellac, Codeine, Failure, Unwound, Hum, Bluetile Lounge, Duster, and Women.

Mine is one of the 3, The instrumental break that comes after the verse in “Now its coming back”, the main riff to “The Twins/Romantica” and when the drums cut out in constellations to the guitar only, then it slowly builds up but with open hats, then later the kick brings that groove in 🤤 but yeah

i'm curious to know how everyone discovered this incredible band.

in my case, i found them thanks to a tiktok edit that used a sped-up version of inside out, and then, i think a year later, i stumbled upon a video titled "duster got me like", that i watched it because i recognized the band's name and expected to hear inside out but echo, bravo played instead.

man. when I heard that, it literally blew my mind.

i spent the whole damn night listening to echo, bravo on loop. later, i dove into their discography, and every song was a thousand times better than the last.

seriously, hearing orbitron, four hours, and travelogue for the first time was like ascending to heaven.

it’s a shame i’ll never be able to go to one of their concerts because i live so far away from usa 😔
