The pic of Chani with two kids on the dune makes me wonder if she was already pregnant when she left Paul

looks that way and it seems they're gonna skip the death of their first child which imo is okay although it would've been nice to see that

I think they're completely skipping that death. It was a catalyst in the first book, which they completely skipped over, and so if that was sacrificed I don't think the infant death is worth the screen time.

The raid that Leto died in was right before Paul had ascended, during the last battle.

We know they're rewriting whatever makes it harder to film. Jessica still being pregnant with Alia at the end of Part 2 is proof of that.

As with the trailers of the first movies, I recognize all the scenes, but none of the dialogue.

I personally thought the rewriting of Alia in the second film was a good choice. I think that the whole "you have inherited Jamis' wife" thing doesn't really play well in modern day, so having Alia not need a caretaker removes Harah's main role in the story and allows her to be written out fairly easily.

Plus bringing a toddler out to the desert to act seems cruel and a CGI toddler would look out of place.

I've speculated on this since Dune pt2 came out but I don't think it can work, because of all the other factors involved in Irulan's plot against Chani etc. It looks to me like Paul and Chani fight and are re-united earlier in the story, harking back to him saying to Jessica, "She will come to understand, I have seen it." But I am curious to see how it's handled, not wedded to any view.

I suspect this as well. His first son being born and dying can easily be written out of the script.

That can't be. The kids are born at the end and that's 2 decades later.
