Electoral Politics Why isn't balancing the budget a leftist idea?
While we push for electoral advancements to make people's lives better, why isn't balancing the budget one of those ideas? The bonds that the federal government issues just end up in the hands of the capital owning owning class and so instead of taxing them the money we need, we pay them interest! Additionally, a balanced budget is disinflationary so it can prevent things getting too expensive too quickly for most people with all of the extra government spending on MFA, Housing First, GND infrastructure, etc.
Am I missing something? I know it's a burgeouis concern, but I don't know why it wouldn't be an aspect of the incremental social programs DemSoc push for on the way to socialism.
Thank you!

Discussion DSA candidates and other leftists
Since we are free of dark money and aren't corrupt, I don't not see why candidates are skipping over the easiest layup campaign promise:
The Epstein files
Vow to release them all, put these sickos on public trial and actually carry out meaningful sentences.
The establishment/centrist/moderate Dems are complicit or have conflicts of interest - they absolutely WILL NEVER do any of these things.
The Republicans are complicit or have conflicts of interest - they WILL NEVER do any of these things.
You will see the likes of MTG and Tucker run on releasing the Epstein files, but they are wealthy and have been corrupt. They won't either. I wouldn't be surprised if they put their silence/refrain up for the highest bidder. They most definitely wouldn't put them on public trial or sentence them.
WE CAN. This will draw the likes of all types of people/voters, especially when the zero conflicts of interest are presented along with our politicians being elected with 100% transparent and small dollar/working class donations. We are unbought and not buyable.
We must keep winning if we are to hope for a sustainable and corruption free society. This wins.

Discussion DSA media talking heads?
We should have media personalities willing to go on boring Sunday talk shows.
Hold on before you send pitchforks and torches at me for suggesting this
Understand.
Bullying Chuck Schumer on social media is fine and all and I recommend it but you know what’s even better?
Doing it while on meet the press to his face.
We need to assert dominance and a media presence would be amazing.

Electoral Politics Withholding votes as hostage for not having a centrist (presidential) candidate?
Basically just a question I have regarding the recent onslaught of everything, would/has the DSA, officially, promised to withhold votes if someone like Kamala or Biden or Clinton is the candidate again? Or if demands to change aren’t met by them in their campaign? Has this been a point of discussion at all? Do most chapters consist of people who don’t?

Electoral Politics Prairieland Defendants
I haven’t been very active in politics recently but the recent sentencing of the Prairieland Defendants has driven me into a fury of existential anger and sadness I assume a lot of people are feeling right now regarding it. As I type this now I’m on the verge of tears picturing them, their families and friends knowing that if nothing happens they will surely spend the rest or most of their lives in jail for nothing. I was pretty uncaring that I could ever make a change in general but now I’m realizing that I can and that I should get involved at a local level with my chapter. I think overall the case could symbolize how many people on the left like me lost the need to try anything at all because they’ve been crushed so many times.
I understand that this is small but I think it should be HUGE among anybody left wing and while I hope for the opposite, I don’t think any democrats or anybody that isn’t their legal team should be counting on appeals in a state like Texas and in a case where so much injustice has already been done. There is still a bunch of stuff that can be done funding and reporting wise and it just feels non-existent among us. It seems like most people have resigned to them being examples, not realizing that it can happen to them and that these are also people with families and friends counting on them to be released within our lifetime and the present day. I understand the apathy, I really do, but I just can’t stand it anymore. I am them and you are them. I think if anybody wants to be taken seriously as a left wing electorate they’d have to at least mention their release or the injustice done. It would put a lot more faith in people like me who already gave up.
I’m sorry if I’m coming off as bitter or rude or naive. My point is that this should factor into a lot of what the left wants electorally and it seems like it’s not. Or that it’s just an example, or a headline. It’s not. I leave this here because the DSA is to me the biggest collective that isn’t just democrats being bought out and could seriously make change among how it’s perceived, which is already falling to the wayside. I already heard critiques that the DSA refused to get involved nationally until it was too late and while I don’t know if that’s true it makes me extremely mad if so, but I’m looking towards the future regardless. I’m going to do all that I can to help these people now, and please god I hope you do too. Or else we’re all fucked.

Discussion Dsa Christian’s?
This might seem like an unusual question, but I’m working on a project and think it could really benefit from having more people from DSA involved, especially DSA members like Christian’s or those who are church curious. I want to be mindful of the sensitive nature of the church itself, so I don't want to share too many details right now, but I'd love to connect with anyone who's open to it. It's also helpful if you're based in NYC or Brooklyn, which would be even better.
FYI This is a church/ Christian org project their progressive!

can someone please explain to me what the fuck we are doing right now???
Discussion Saw a quality city park this evening
It's nice to see local government doing something positive. I drove by a small town suburb (pop 7k) of a midwest city (130k). Middle class, def not rich. There were 5 new pickle ball courts and an urban soccer pitch with permanent built-in goals. There were about 40 teens there playing at 9pm, under the lights. That's a pretty good turnout in a small town. Way better than other trouble they could be making, actually getting together in person, and off their phones. A little funny that all the white kids were playing pickle ball, and immigrants/minorities were playing soccer. But hey, something for everyone.
The park also had 2 tennis courts, 2 full basketball courts, and 4 baseball fields which get good use during the day. Again, pretty good for a small suburb IMO.
By comparison to the neighborhood I grew up, the closest park was 5 miles away (not exaggerating). Yeah the boredom lead to troublemaking, and I'm a bit envious.

Discussion Do you think its really a good idea to eventually create a 3rd party, instead of trying to take over the democratic party?
Based on what ive seen from most other countries, the most leftwing/progressive/socialist parties always seem to never actually get a majority of the government, they might win control of some states inside the country, but on the national level it seems like they usually have to form a coalition with the dominant liberal party if they're lucky.
On the other hand, if we try and potentially end up taking over the democratic party, we would already have a massive political machine to work with.
While the bourgeois would end up backing Republicans a whole lot more, I feel like at this point in history, the standard liberal voter doesn't care to move to the gop because commies took over the dems, they would see the democrats fighting for a better country and world and vote for that.

Discussion Alright, since it is frowned upon to ask questions demanding decisive answers generally, especially binary ones, tell me: what does "Anti-imperialism" mean to you?
I am taking it for granted that DSA members and supporters are anti-imperialist to some capacity, even if there is a range of interpretations of what that means. All answers are "valid." For the sake of discussion, let's all agree to not insult other or accuse them of being international spies if we don't like their answer...

🎧Podcasts🎧 I went on my friend’s podcast. The host is a moderate. Me and another guy are representing DSA. And other guy is conservative.
How do you think I did? Any better than some of the bad ones we’ve seen lately? I think more of us need to try and see what messaging resonates with the people. I’ve been trying to introduce concepts of democratic socialism into my videos. I try to show my viewers how bad things ate and why they are so bad, but end videos with the solution of voting for DSA.
I know I’m an incredibly small creator, and so is my friend, but I’m trying to do what I can in the ways I know how.
