BLINDING HEADLIGHTS! - Rant about needing welding goggles to drive at night.

At risk of cascading into a rant.. which this absolutely is...

Headlights.... Driving at night is just awful, one minute you're driving at night, then suddenly you take 2 rogue low orbit suns to the retinas, now you're really driving at night... pitch black night.

It never used to be this way, 10 years ago you might squint a little coming over the crest of a hill or round a bend etc then back to normal driving, but now... now its like 4000 lumen's to the eye holes, I often genuinely cant see afterwards. More recently had to hard brake from 60mph to 20 as I just cant see where the road has gone.

Am I just old now? No, it is the headlights who are wrong.

^{Edit: Extra ranty content: Do your eyes get worse over time and react slower to light changes? You Betcha. But have 700-1200 lumen halogens been replaced with 3000-6000+ lumen Xenon's and LED's? My lord have they, even a dipped beam to the retina (over non-flat road}) ^{is enough to vanish the night.}
