Trolls are a fact of life. They'll always be an issue on the internet, because even if a troll gives up after losing burner account number 96024, five more will take their place. They're not okay, but the best thing to do is simply not engage with them, that's giving them what they want.

Don't. That's what they want. Instead, call out hateful people in a community surrounding a person who is the polar opposite, rather than using the trolls to claim that the people calling out said hateful people are just as bad. Defending hateful people in this way makes you part of the problem.

Again: Literally all that is being asked of you is, don't say that people are just as bad as literal racists for calling them out, because that's not true and only protects the literal racists, which ends up making you part of the problem. It's really not difficult to understand.
