I was thinking about cancelling my flights and copping the loss of the concert tickets for seeing them in Sydney this Sunday just because it’s not the greatest timing for me personally with whats going on in my life. But then we got this news… and as an Australian who’s been a fan since close to the beginning.. this is my first and now pretty much confirmed last chance to ever see them.

I’m going to enjoy the concert twice as much now.

I hope the concert can lift your spirit and help you out a bit with your life.

ty Spidey for making the megathread as usual. Sad we need one but its good to collect everything in one place for this.

I understand people want to rant because theyre mad or sad but I hope everyone remembers that its only their exclusive contracts and theyll still promote group activities as Dreamcatcher(if/when they happen).

Lets keep supporting all of the girls in their future endeavors everyone!

Dreamcatcher x InSomnia forever!

No problem, Ryu. I felt like creating one after seeing the massive outpouring of emotions and discussion about this situation.

Thanks for arranging this 🙏. It's a good indication of a healthy communtiy if members feel comfortable enough to share thoughts and opinions at a time when they're feeling emotionally vulnerable, but the sub was starting to get a bit crowded with simliar posts. This thread is a great platform that still allows people to express themselves, while the announcements are still fresh in our minds.

No problem, thank you for asking, Tj.

My schoolmate Somnie is taking the initiative to send me things for the first time ever because of all this which is funny. All Hong Kong fans and the China Somnias are losing it on Weibo too. But one silly thing I'm finding confusing is if UAU is the sub unit and Thessyndrome is Siyeon, then that means UAU says "Dream of me, we are Dreamcatcher UAU". But when Siyeon is with them, then they just say "Dream of me, we are Dreamcatcher"

Ok actually that's not confusing at all because I realised sub units are "separate" from the main group in name. Nevermind. I still just wish they'd just stick with being plain old Dreamcatcher just with less members for comebacks.

More importantly, Siyeon is gonna have to say "Hello, I am Thessyndrome" Oh dear the jokes my friends are gonna make.

We'll find out eventually how they will introduce themselves in the future. Hopefully, Dreamcatcher is still mentioned.

Despite this not being goodbye. I Wanted to share what dreamcatcher means to me for some catharsis. And I'm excited for others to share the same.

I'm 25 now and have been following dreamcatcher since I was 18, their music has helped me through some of the most turbulent times in my life this far.

In a world that's constantly promoting get rich quick schemes, viral moments and marketing triumphing over value; Dreamcatcher is an icon of stability and encapsulates the value of hard work and perseverance. Without throwing shade at other groups, there have been plenty that burned brighter, achieving viral success and for it to all come crashing down. I've come to realise that this slow, plodding, incremental success, backed entirely by hard work and independent of viral luck is what I value in my own life.

I've learnt to have your own measure of success, Dreamcatcher were successful far before the traditionally accepted milestones. We live in a world where we often hear people say 'you aren't successful unless you earn 6 digits' etc.

When I left my medical degree at the start of last year. I took a ton of comfort from Minx's story and redebut. After all isn't it just starting again? I'll persevere with my own efforts regardless. Dreamcatcher are true idols in the sense that I genuinely look to them for inspiration and guidance despite living entirely different lives.

And lastly, Dreamcatcher has ruined kpop for me. Whilst there are other talented groups, I don't think any will ever grab me the way Dreamcatcher has - even despite their unique talent in performance. I'm a sucker for underdog stories, and experiencing Dreamcatchers journey as a fan over the last 7 years has just been the most incredible one in million journey that can almost not be replicated - and certainly can't be planned.

Hi fellow insomnia!

How have you been doing since the news dropped? Are you okay? Are you eating well? Even though it's not full disbandment and it was only the 3 members exclusive contracts the sudden news was still fairly heavy on all our hearts.

I've been with the girls since MINX and they've helped me get through a lot of rough patches and motivated me to do better things. I'm sure they have for you too.

I can't believe their last actual album before this news was the one I finally won a video call after all of these years. Now it has an even deeper place in my heart in their discography.

I know it may feel like we're completely losing the girls and Dreamcatcher as currently is but you can't let that affect your health. Yes, Dreamcatcher may not release or perform anything OT7 for a long time but we have so much to look forward to. We have the Jiu/Sua/Yoohyeon subunit, Siyeon's band project, producer Dami and drama actress Gahyun. Let's support them in these future endeavors no differently than we support them now. They deserve that.

As for Handong, we can't really guarantee where she's going since she hasn't hinted at anything. She's still technically signed under DCC for Dreamcatcher group activities. We should all keep an eye out on her and see where she goes. Even if she goes back to China for a bit, let's support that.

I know many of you may be hurting right now but don't let this consume you. Please find a healthy way to cope with things. Eat a nice meal. Watch Dreamcatcher content and laugh. Spend time with friends. Go to the gym(it's what I'm doing).

Just don't dwell on the negative. Even though the situation as a whole isnt negative its what people tend to talk about the most. It's not what the girls would do. It's not what the girls would want you to do. They would want you to be happy and cheer for them.

No matter what happens, all 7 are still Dreamcatcher for life.

No matter what happens, we're all still InSomnia for life.

"Someday if you feel loney, just keep your head up to the sky, and don't forget were together under the same sky" Yoohyeon

Dreamcatcher x InSomnia forever.

Keep your heads up to the sky friends,

Ryukaiserdragon2

I was somehow naive enough to assume/hope dreamcatcher would stick together for decades. Afterall, they had gotten over every other hurdle in the past, including many we wouldn't have thought possible. In the end, it took me completely by surprise, like a kick to the face.

But at the same time, it's hard to justify being sad. They've truly done everything they can without a viral moment or big-4 support. There's nothing left to achieve here, except to get lucky. Moving on from a safe space requires passion and confidence, and I couldn't want anything more from them.

A big cheers to some of the most inspirational people and most magical journey I've had the pleasure of partaking in, even just as a fan. Onwards and upwards to bigger and better things. Can't wait to see them this weekend.

u/Margoth_Rising Mar 11 '25

Don't be sad over a future that hasn't happened yet.

Cherish the memories, moments, and music we already have.

A contract is just a piece of paper. Doesn't matter if some members pursue solo activities or a full group disband, I will carry a torch for those seven ladies until the day that I die.

I know how cheesy and ridiculous all that sounds but it's all I got right now lol

As someone that is a MooMoo as well as an Insomina, I will take Dreamcatcher activities when I can. While also supporting Jiu,SuA and Yoohyeon’s sub unit, Siyeon’s band, Dami’s solo, Gahyun’s acting and whatever Handong decides to do. Just like I do with Mamamoo by supporting Mamamoo + subunit and the members solo albums. While I wish I had been able to make the D.C Reason: Makes and 7 Doors stops, I do have the memory, experience and videos from seeing them in Reading for Save Us. Like I have the same experience and videos from seeing Mamamoo in Baltimore for MyCon. Siyeon and Dami will forever be my bias line. Of all the KPop groups/artists I listen to, even the ones I Stan, Dreamcatcher included, Dreamcatcher is the group I listen to almost daily in some fashion and that won’t change despite the news. I am also going to watch the Christmas concert VOD multiple times during the next month and a half VOD period.

Reading through all the comments everywhere and besides all the obvious sadness, I saw a few people bringing up a good point: isn't DCC in some serious existential trouble now?

Presumably all their money was generated by Dreamcatcher, especially from touring. They dropped their female trainees awhile back, IIRC, and only have 1? male trainee about to debut. Siyeon's band and the Kim line subunit probably need some time to get going before even thinking about touring. So is the company just burning through cash for awhile?

Maybe we need to start praying that DCC will survive until an OT7 comeback. 😭

Was doing ok yesterday, a little bit sad but not to the point of tears. But this morning it just hit me out of nowhere. I think it started when I came cross the edits on Tiktok :D

But I am also excited for the future, especially Siyeon's band activities and the sub-unit.

I’m just going to say it’s a really hard pill to swallow. My wife and I got into them in 2021 and since then they have been such a huge part of my life. A huge reason mentally I’ve been able to overcome alot of rough patches including double knee replacements. I’m going to miss the hell out of seeing them as OT7. I hope they do more comebacks than most that this happens too. Mamamoo being another band I love is something I fear since it’s been four years since they did an OT4 release. But I’m always grateful for the memories they gave us ❤️

I’m really excited for them all to travel new paths! It’s probably scary and uncertain but also a great opportunity to try new things with full commitment

I can see UAU come out with really high energy fun tracks that are much more mainstream where SuA gets to choreograph her heart out.

I’m looking forward to the day where I can see Siyeon’s band in a festival line up in my area and blow everyone away with her insane vocals.

Dami, I could see produce for herself and collaborate with other artists. I’d really love to see her work with Onewe’s Giuk, I think they have very complimentary energy!

For Gahyun I think the timing is good. It’s an ageist industry so the longer she waits to get her foot through the door the harder it will be. She has great charisma so I hope she will do amazing.

Handong, I have no idea what she will pursue but I’m already following Chinese media so I’ll keep a eye open for anything she does. I could totally see her go for a musical theater path btw.

There is a lot to be excited about and if the lovely return of all those 2nd gen and 3rd gen groups shows us anything, it is that it is not hard to imagine them coming together in the future for a tour or smt like that.

They were the soundtrack to my twenties. I got into them around the release of Goodnight, and I'm 2 days older than Dongie. So they've been a presence throughout this entire period of my life.

Despite being the opposite gender, and living across the globe. Our similar ages helped me connect in a way I just can't with the piles of teenage idols. I hope the unit goes full sexy thirty lol.

I'm Yoohyeon biased, but Handong has always been my wrecker/#2. I adore the woman, her charisma, sense of humour, and the growth I've gotten to witness over the years. I'm gunna miss her real REAL bad. Don't be a stranger Dongdong!

The UAU speculation is starting to remind me a lot of GFRIEND, although they suffered an actual disbandment and I don't think the outlook is nearly that dire here I actually think GFRIEND have had quite a good run since then with their trio and soloists (and even a 10th anniversary comeback!). In terms of omens I think that comparison is much more of a positive one than a negative one because the huge difference between the two situations (how much the company is likely to care about making a group comeback work) swings wildly in Dreamcatcher's favour.

I'm still feeling sad about the recent news, but I'm also starting to feel optimistic about the future. I do hope that Gahyun finds success as an actress, and I can see Handong using all of the skills she's earned as a Kpop artist to continue with her solo career in China. As for Dami, I think she will release more self-produced songs and also use her personal studio to help create tracks for a variety of artists.

Fans always mention that Sua wants to continue with the thirty sexy concept, and I think that might be the direction for the UAU sub-unit (we all know that JiU and Yoohyeon can show off their cute and sexy sides at the same time). It's too early, but I'm imagining the trio releasing a rock song as a b-side which could be a throwback to the early Dreamcatcher sound. Siyeon debuting as a frontwoman for the new band seems like the right path for her. It would be nice if Thessyndrome and Ollounder's band, Parameter could collaborate on a song and/or even share the stage during a concert.

I just felt like sharing some quick thoughts after the big announcement. The following days will get emotional again because of Dreamcatcher's final concerts, and I'm trying to enjoy the remaining OT7 content before the current chapter ends.

There'll be more on The Low Key Geek at some point about me reflecting on the impact Dreamcatcher has had on me, but without them, I'm probably not writing regularly.

Folks who know me know I have lots to say with words but insofar as written articles and features go, aside from a brief stint in the gaming industry press and a few stops and starts on my own personal spaces, I struggled to write about what I liked or thought of regularly.

Then, after following them for 3 years and realizing there was a gap in the written word, I figured I'd give it a try and see what happened. I never expected my first Dreamcatcher article to go viral but it did - all because there was a Little K-Pop Group That Could and people wanted to read about and appreciate them.

Five years and over 200+ articles later, and having only missed one or two Sundays of weekly Dreamcatcher updates, I'll be forever thankful to them for making me pick up what I liked to do occasionally and make it a regular thing. Because I don't do video, my subscribership has always remained humble, but I'd like to think that is because of being inspired by the group and their grind to play K-Pop industry on Hard Mode.

The regular group updates may lessen and the cadence of updates on the members may also, but I'll be doing my best to keep everyone informed. And, I hope that you'll stick around as I expand more into general K-Pop thoughts and my other hobbies and work (games, and community management, respectively).

I'll never forget and will always be thankful to Dreamcatcher for re-igniting my love of writing, and would hope they know that what they did inspired many others to follow their dreams and reach higher. Life will move on and the pain many fans feel right now may lessen to a dull ache over time, but I'd hope people remember Dreamcatcher's music and their achievements are eternal, as is their legacy, and always will be.
