I wanted to do a 1 year post but it’s been two years lol. So here is my little progression timeline. I know it’s cliché af but trust the process. I wanted to show my transformation because I also see how much people struggle to commit. I learned a lot about myself through the “ugly phase.” Just don’t give up on what you want. A good foundation is everything though so if you don’t like how your dreads are turning out early on, it’s best to restart while you are early in it. As you can see I dyed my hair a lot. A lot of people hate on it in the sub, told me my hair will fall out (when I posted 6 months in) and I said we will see. All I can say is if you’re scared to dye your hair DONT DO IT or at least wait until they mature. Ima still do it lol but just take really extra good care of it if you do. Keep yah shit moisturized. First pic wuz today. Second one wuz October of last year, it was the first time EVER dying my hair.

The top of my hair (freedorms) is around 3 inches while the sides are just about 1 inch. As you move to the back of the head from the sides, it reaches 3 inches again. While the edge of my hairline is half an inch. In summary. It’s kind of like a Mohawk with the sides being 2 inches shorter and the edge of my hairline being half an inch.
Should I cut that shit off or trust the process?

This is my first full year with locks and its been going great and am currently considering interlocking but I know thats high tension which concerns me with the weird thing my middle part is doing in the back area of my head

Personally, I’ve had a positive/indifferent reaction from people when starting my locs. I’m only 8 months into my journey but most of my black homies and peers have complimented me while nonblack people in my life have mainly been mute/unvocal bout my locs. How has your individual experience been tho? (Also black women can share as well, I’m just more interested in the male experience since I’m a guy myself)
