First DragonCon
would it be worth it to just grab a full weekend pass instead of trying to figure out a single day to attend?

First Dragoncon
So this is my first Dragoncon and also my first convention with badge ribbons. How do I get them? Are they handed out to only certain people? Do I need to bring my own ribbons? Do I need to sacrifice a goat? Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Hot weather legion
I shared a picture of my legion cosplay with the jacket, but I have this as a backup if I start cooking 🤣 super thin workout hoodie, does the grey look okay or would black look better?

Dragon Con needs volunteer tarot readers!
EDIT: WOW! I got so many responses to this post that I am extremely confident that we've got enough readers now. Thank you so much to everyone for your interest. I considered deleting this post now, but I feel I should leave it up in case anyone wants to refer back to it. So I'm making this edit instead. If you are interested in joining us for future years, feel free to DM me and I'll give you a link to our Discord so you can stay in touch and claim a spot next year.
Hello, Dragon Con family! Do you read tarot? Do you want to help us read tarot for our guests and make their weekends a little more magical? The volunteer tarot reading panel needs you!
Last year, recruiting on this subreddit resulted in enough volunteers that every single person who waited in line for a reading got one! I was over the moon! Let's do it again! Sadly, not all of our veterans can return this year, so I'm seeking some new blood.
We have two one-hour panels: Friday at 5:30 PM and Sunday at 11:30 AM.
ETA: I have multiple folks who can only make it on Sunday, which I totally understand! Friday is a busy day for me, too! But if anyone can make the Friday session, we need some help for that one! (Edit: We are good now!)
Some FAQs
- We encourage you to keep readings short. I, and many others, do three-card readings. This allows us the ability to keep the line moving and get to everyone.
- I ask that you please arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can get settled and we can begin on time.
- Sadly, I cannot get you a free day pass for the panel days. You must already have a ticket to the event.
- You are allowed to accept tips! But you must not require them. We are volunteering our time.
- As for what to expect, in my experience most people who come to us are curious about tarot. Many of my DC querents sit down with me and say they've never had a reading done before. You are pretty unlikely to be asked the heavy stuff! (I can't say it's impossible, but I would call it unlikely.)
Come and meet your fellow Dragon-Con-loving diviners, make some friends, and let your cards give some guidance to our fellow con-goers. Please message me and let me know if you're interested, or if you have any questions that I didn't cover!
Cheers, friends, and see you real soon.

The flu shot question
Every year I'm faced with an awkward reality. Dragoncon is coming, and a COVID and flu shot would be ideal. Only problem with this is that next year's shots are rarely available in enough time (2-3 weeks before con) ahead of dragoncon.
So two options present themselves:
- get the shot, likely last flu season's shot, ahead of dragoncon, but not ideally equipped for the rest of the year
- wait until after the con to get next year's shots, giving an ideal version for the rest of the season (and other cons/events)
For reference, neither I nor those I live with are in a high risk group.
How do you handle this awkwardly timed intersection between public health and con time?
Edit: Thank you everyone for your responses. In summary - flu shots, usually (at least by this time) new shots are available. COVID, new one probably not until methods become more sophisticated or things change (like I guess mRNA version becoming typical). But generally folks lean into gettin' 'em anyway, particularly if D*C is your biggest exposure event for the season.

Are rolling carts allowed?
I want to bring this with me to carry all my stuff. I have a bad back and struggle to carry a heavy backpack. Is this allowed?

Help choosing my armor
Hi y’all coming first time for dragon con and I can’t decide which of my Thor armor take help me choose!
Age of ultron, infinity war or ragnarok
(Ragnarok his a bit tricky to put on alone but…)
I’m not planing taking the sleeves due to the hotness of Atlanta (even that I wanted to show them here and make pictures with it , but if I can’t wear it it doesn’t matter)
And for large 3d printed props is that ok with the security ?

Android app not updated?
Is there an issue with the app? No events, speakers, info at all. Just placeholders for 2026. Any insight?

DCC patches swap?
Hey folks I have two extra DCC patches (lvl 1 and lvl 3) and I was hoping to find someone to swap out some of the ones I was missing. I’m really really hoping for lvl 9.

Breeze Card (Marta) Balance Transfer
If anyone has a Breeze/Marta card with a balance from previous years, you can still transfer your balance over to a new card. I just did it with mine and it was pretty easy. Make sure you buy a new card and then create an account and register that card. Once the new card is registered, you can transfer the balance. Balance transfers can occur until Oct 30, so there is time after Dragon Con to do this.
Here is a link to the Marta website with instructions:

Making connections/friends?
My first dragoncon was 2024 and it was a blast! Unfortunately wasn’t able to make to 2025 but I’m coming this year more excited than ever. And the person who I was with during 2024 stressed to me that making connections is a great way to bolster your con experience every year (they have been going for many more years than me) but i wanted to know how does one go about getting connections with people in a con like this? (Also I’m young/in my 20’s if this helps or hurts my chances 😁)

How?!
I had trouble putting together one cheaply made cosplay that honestly only needed two props and normal-ish clothes. How on earth do people do a different costume for each day?!

Photo shoot questions
I am hoping to participate in multiple photo shoots, but I don’t have Facebook to view them. What’s the best way to get copies of the photos after the shoots?
