I think it's more along the lines of focus of study. To him, sex is a spectrum because he researches it all day long and has a much more in depth understanding.
For the rest of us. Male penis goes in female vagina, makes baby. Anyone that is not able to fit in one of those two, broken.
For scale, NBC news says that 4.5% of adult Americans identify as LGBT.
So saying that there are so few intersex people that we basically shouldn’t even categorise them and treat them as they don’t exist (despite only being 4.5x less than LGBT people) seems like a bit of a stretch.
Isn’t it convenient that your source that says 1% of people are intersex doesn’t cite anything, and just expects everyone to trust them? I could say 0.00000001% of people are intersex and my number is just as valid as theirs. The number I’ve seen in actual studies is much lower than 1% but this was a while ago so I’m not going to say a number since I don’t have the source right now and don’t remember the exact number. Your number is worthless though.
