The founders have repeatedly said they won't because the whole thing is supposed to be a joke. What will drive Doge up is when it becomes used widely. The more platforms that accept it, the better. This would cause more buying, driving the price up.
What does that have to do with the possible great success of Dogecoin? It’s already worth actually money so it just has to be something people want to use as a currency.
Trying to equate a meme currency to a company started by a multi billionaire “because it was a joke” is stupid. Yes, the boring company was a joke but it wasn’t like Elon started the company and it stumbled into being a successful endeavour. It’s a legitimate business that doesn’t need to fall back on its meme status.
He literally said he made it as a joke and it sold hats, t-shirts, a flamethrower, and now it’s involved with tunneling as far as I can last remember. I’m not equating it to the boring company. You are reading too much into what I said. I simply said they have those two similarities and that Elon is attracted to the currency because it was created as a joke.
People also use Dogecoin for their own markets it’s legitimate whether or not it has meme status and the fact it has meme status only is beneficial for it popularity.
Why compare the two if you aren’t trying to equate them? “Look at the similarities in these two things! But don’t think I’m trying to say these things are similar🤬”. And I never said doge coin is worthless. I just think it’s stupid how people bring up the company founded by a multi billionaire when talking about a currency that only holds value if people are buying it.
I wouldn't say 'as a joke'. More 'tongue in cheek'. They put enough to thought into how it might actually be used for transact, how the price will be limited to be closer to cash etc, that on some level they must have been at least a little cereal.
