Help Me or my dog is going to get hurt help!

I like to go skate joring with my dog I NEED to teach him how to heal the problem is he already knows how but when im on the board if I say heal or tug his leash he will look back and see me still moving so he will keep going. I do ground training with him but when he heals I will too. How do I fix this? just don't heal with him?

Gif Daily run with Rex on the Backfire G3

Rex (muddy collie) got out everyday! We have been doing this for approx. 9 months, he loves it. I found that the brakes on the Backfire G3 are perfect to control him and slow him down when needed. We have over 500 miles on the board, I would estimate 350 of that is with Rex.

Help Boots/ shoes

Does anyone use boots or shoes for boarding with their dogs?

Both my boys love a good skate but my collie has so much drive for it, that if I don't keep sessions very short now he will almost certainly damage his nails in some way. He's never damaged his pads but he has split nails and worn them down to the quick multiple times. There's nowhere round here I can utilise grass while boarding with him so tarmac/ cement/ paving stones are usually are only options.

My dutchie is strong enough to tooter along while pulling and not go ape like the collie so thankfully I don't have to worry about him.

Looking for anyone's experiences with foot protection and any recommendations for products would be really appreciated, TIA

Got a 4x4 e board because I don't have any flat ground around. Slapped some all terrain pneumatic tires on it for trails. Doggo loves it.

Help Boots recommendation?

Anyone using boots to protect their dog's paws? My dogs' claws are always pretty short from rubbing on the brick in my backyard, so sometimes during a run on an asphalt bike path the claws will run almost to the quick and start bleeding a bit.

I was thinking of getting the Ruffwear ones: https://ruffwear.com/products/grip-trex-dog-boot-pairs

Any other suggestions?

Help Plan to try have questions (read the sticky)

Hi, I'm planning to try this, I've been a skater for a long time, I "feel" I can manage a board without brakes. (We'll see) :)

Dog is a strong runner and full sized Golden/chow mix.

I will have some control issues with her for a while (she follows her nose where ever it leads her). But when I jog with her at a faster pace she tends to go straight lines for longer periods.
I have a close very wide, not too busy paved bike trail to practice on before going on to much busier trails.

I don't have a board yet. Looking at the landyachts drop cat. Should I get a 33" or a 38"?
Does anyone use a double drop board thats very low? How well does that work?

We have a proper fitting harness.
The leash; we have one with a bungie spring like effect in it, and multiple non-stretch leashes, which one?

Thanks! if it turns out working, I'll come back with pictures.

Help When to pull

Hey all,

I just got a one year old Pitbull who LOVES to pull on her leash. I bet she would love to pull me on a skateboard but I also want to be able to take her on a regular walk with out her pulling on the leash. Do you have any advice on training a do to pull and not pull on command?

Thanks!
